Ford’s Research and Advanced Engineering team explores new vehicle and societal innovations that require some level of invention before they can be applied to our products and services. We deliver ways to make smarter vehicles and innovate using sustainable, environmentally, and socially responsible methods and materials. Since 2000, we have used twelve industry- and world-first plant-based materials in our production vehicles. We also are researching the possible use of tomato skin, bamboo, agave fiber, dandelion roots, algae, and coffee chaff as part of our ambitious goal of making our vehicles with up to 20 percent sustainable material by 2025.

What you’ll be able to do: 

AI/ML Software Engineer positions offered by Ford Motor Company (Palo Alto, CA). Innovate and iterate on Agile processes and share learnings with the team.  Work closely with the product manager and product owner to translate business value needs into user stories for delivery by software engineers. Work with other software engineers to understand artificial intelligence/machine learning platform vision, break out tasks, and help solve challenging issues. Work in product teams focused on machine learning tools and development operations. Define best practices and standards and deliver solutions that meet customer requirements and needs. Identify and mitigate risks and educate the business. Use Paired Programming for cross training, problem solving, and speed of delivery.

You'll have... 

 A master’s or foreign equivalent degree in computer science, engineering or a related field and 4 years of experience in the position offered or 4 years of experience performing software development. Also requires 2 years of experience: developing machine learning models using open source deep learning frameworks; and using Java, Python, Jenkins, Tensorflow, Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, REST APIs, Agile development, Dockers, PyTorch or Kubernetes. Also requires 1 year of experience: building enterprise level AI and ML Platforms; and using machine learning tools and platforms for data management and models development and deployment. Position reports to Palo Alto, CA office.  Telecommuting permitted in accordance with company policy, but must live within commuting distance of stated office. Experience may be, but need not be, acquired concurrently.

We are offering a salary of $194,792 to $214,212 per year.
