- Leads the development, validation, publishing, and maintenance of logical and physical data models supporting data lakes and warehouses underpinning enterprise scale transactional and analytical applications in the energy market. Significant big data expertise using Microsoft Azure and Snowflake technologies.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS AND ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Experience in development of the conceptual, logical, and physical data models, the implementation of RDBMS, Data warehouse star-schema models, entity relationships to 3NF, operational data store (ODS), data marts, and data lakes
- Experience in design, implementation of data architecture and data modeling solutions, which include the use of relational, dimensional, hierarchical and NoSQL databases
- Expert in data architecture and the optimization of data query performance via best practices
- Strong knowledge of data modeling principles and best practices including good understanding of canonical data modeling concepts
- Experience working with business and application/solution teams to implement data strategies, build data flows, and develop conceptual/logical/physical data models
- Define and govern data modeling and design standards, tools, best practices, and related development for enterprise data models
- Integrations with Data catalogs (business, functional, technical and operational)
- Work with the business, users, lead architect, and designers to define the data requirements and structure for the application(s)
- Evaluate existing database and create conceptual, logical and physical data models and data flows
- Model and design DW schema for Snowflake based on the current use cases
- Ensure that the database designs fulfill the requirements, including data volume, frequency needs, and long-term data growth
- Translate business functional requirements into data requirements partnering with data engineering team to build supporting data models
- Create conceptual, logical and physical data models using best practices to ensure high data quality and support application, batch and interactive use cases
- Develop best practices for standard naming conventions and coding practices to ensure consistency of data models
- Establishes and maintains a data modeling repository and ensures it’s implemented according to standards
- Deliver well defined data design documentation and data models for the data warehouse solutions
- Work with technical software development and data engineers to strategize solutions to align with business requirements
- Experience in Azure Cloud Data Solutions
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Education/ Certifications/ Experience
- Bachelor's Degree required in one of the following fields; information technology, engineering, or similar field
- Master’s Degree preferred in one of the following fields; information technology, engineering, or similar field
- 5+ years relevant experience with data modeling experience including conceptual, logical and physical with experience in Big data technologies such as Spark, Data bricks is a plus
- 7+ years of big data engineering experience
- 5+ years cloud engineering experience with an emphasis on AWS and Azure technologies
- Experience modeling big data systems
- Experience creating data repositories support web applications and REST APIs.
- Experience with high throughput, big volume, fast response time, scalable systems
- Energy industry experience a plus
- Experience with billing and or financial systems useful
- May consider a combination of relevant experience with educational and other skills and abilities in lieu of educational requirements
- Competencies/ Skills/ Abilities
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
- English required, French a plus
- Experience with Microsoft Office suite of products
- Data modelling skills for OLTP and OLAP systems

- Experience with Python, Hadoop, and Spark helpful
- Previous experience working in an Agile environment

The pay range for this role is: $ 40-60 hourly.
Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data. This position is eligible for our comprehensive and competitive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Additional ENGIE benefits include a 401k plan, paid time off and annual bonus. ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work schedules are determined by business need and manager discretion; full time employment is considered 40 hours per week
