Description
Project description: The GUIDE project addresses gaps in algorithms and privacy-preserving data mining methods for platforms integrating individual data on domestic utility consumption and mobility. While big data holds promise for societal issues, solutions depend on practical algorithms and user flexibility. GUIDE highlights the need for privacy-protecting methods to safely combine granular data, enabling participation, personalisation, and fairness. These methods empower citizens with actionable insights into their environmental footprint, promoting active participation and resource management, particularly regarding energy and climate change.
The project aims to develop interoperable data tools for individuals to explore their historical utility and mobility patterns. By advancing privacy management and data mining algorithms, GUIDE seeks to enable secure, human-in-the-loop techniques for generating actionable knowledge, fostering informed communities, and promoting planetary well-being.
Tasks to be performed:
-
Carry out the design, analysis, implementation, integration and evaluation of techniques and algorithms for spatio-temporal data. (contribute to Objective 2 of GUIDE: “Data sharing and interoperability mechanisms”).
-
Advance or adapt methods for privacy-preserving data mining to the context of geo-referenced data (contribute to Objective 1 “Privacy-preserving capabilities”).
-
Implementation of algorithms in HPC under frameworks like Map/Reduce and in particular the clusters we have access to with Hadoop (contribute to Objective 3 “Pattern discovery algorithms and consumer suggestions with accessible API”).
-
Analyse the algorithm’s complexity and perform delicate and expert algorithmic engineering (contribute to Objective 4 “Data governance integrative platform integrating trustworthy AI, human-in-the- loop, and algorithm fairness”)
-
Contrast the theoretical complexity analysis with observed implementation performance and perform delicate and expert algorithmic engineering (contribute to Objective 5 ”Pilot study generating impact”).
The duration of these tasks is estimated over a period of 24 months.
