Who we are looking for

We are looking for a Data Engineer that is ready to be a team player on a Global Technology Team that delivers a comprehensive and holistic approach to a Business – IT centric relationship for finance departments across the globe. The best candidate will be able to work effectively with Business partners, Testing Teams, Analysts teams and other Data Engineers to develop, maintain and support the implementation of Cloud Data Lake activities through enterprise applications and exposure to Cloud based database platforms.

We are looking for qualified candidates with experience in analytic platforms (PowerBI and Tableau) as well as exposure to Databricks. Users should have a strong understanding of Python coding and/or R skills.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

As a Data Engineer you will conduct end to end Cloud Data Lake design and development including data ingestion, data modeling and data distribution by utilizing different solutions (Python/Java/SQL coding).  Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • End to end Cloud Data Lake design & development including data ingestion, data modeling and data distribution as well as build data integrations between on-prem/cloud-based systems.
  • Design and develop high volume data ingestion components and solutions to collect data from various sources while ensuring cloud solutions exhibit higher levels of cost efficiency, performance, scalability and reliability.
  • Responsible for developing/implementing cloud infrastructure to support current and future business needs.
  • Participating in technical design, application build, configuration, unit testing, and production deployment.
  • Providing technical expertise and ownership in the diagnosis and resolution of issues, including the determination and provision of workaround solution or escalation to service owners and management.
  • Ensuring all cloud solutions exhibit higher levels of cost efficiency, performance, security, scalability, and reliability. While ensuring proper governance over the tools.
  • Building, maintaining, deploying and troubleshooting configuration in EC2 instances and S3 file systems on Linux while analyzing opportunities for improvement.

Required Skills / Applications / Certifications to help you succeed in this role:

  • Application Development and Amazon Web Services – must have advanced skills in designing, developing, and deploying complex applications. Hands on experience with Cloud data migration on Azure/AWS using Databricks/Snowflake and maintaining cloud-based database systems.
  • Microsoft PowerBI and Tableau– must have strong skills in integration and utilization of PowerBI and Tableau
  • Proficient in Oracle RDBMS and Python/Java/SQL coding
  • CICD – Advanced understanding of the CICD process
  • GitHub - Hands on experience with Git versioning, branching, managing repositories, and Git workflows.
  • Functional Testing – Ability to execute functional testing
  • Resolution through Risk and Issue Management.
  • Data Engineering, Application Management and IT Infrastructure Support – Must be experienced in building systems using modern, scalable, resilient, cloud native architectures with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues. Ability in troubleshooting configuration in EC2 instances and S3 file systems on Linux while analyzing opportunities for improvement.
  • Business Operational, Technical Project Management, Delivery and Production Management Support – Must be able to provide technical expertise and ownership in the diagnosis and resolution of issues, including the determination and provision of workaround solution or escalation to service owners and management
  • Collaboration and Teamwork – Must be able to work across a global teams from internal teams and client teams.
  • Self-Motivated with Attention to Detail – Must have strong skills in Time Management, Critical Thinking, Strategic Thinking, Problem Solving, Active Listening and Decision Making
  • Databricks (Databricks Data engineer Associate Ceriticiation Nice to Have) - Must have experience working with the Databricks application
  • Virtualizer tools such as Starburst, Spotfire, and TDV
  • Atlassian Cloud Jira and Confluence
  • Conceptual understanding of Data Lake House
  • Grafana / Kibana – Understanding and exposure to monitoring tools
  • ServiceNow
  • ORMB, MDM, RDR and TruView – Exposure to – Nice to Have
  • AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner Certification – Nice to Have

Education & Qualifications

Bachelor’s/Master's Degree in computer science, computer engineering or equivalent field. The candidate should have industry experience (preferably in Financial Services) in reporting and data analysis with exposure to Power BI and Databricks or Cloud based database engineering platforms. Proven work experience as a Data Engineer or similar role with strong attention to detail.
