We’re seeking an experienced and visionary Lead Data Integration Architect with deep expertise in designing and implementing enterprise-wide data and information architectures. This position will play a critical role in defining the integration strategies, overseeing data architecture, and guiding the implementation of cutting-edge solutions that drive business value. Reporting to [Insert Reporting Manager], the individual will collaborate across IT, business units, and external partners to ensure seamless integration and high-quality data solutions.The Lead Data Integration Architect will shape the integration architecture approach and lead the design and implementation of enterprise data systems, including an enterprise data warehouse. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional technical skills, a strong understanding of business needs, and the ability to align technology with organizational goals.
The preferred location for this position is Appleton, WI; exceptions may be considered for location based on relevance of candidate experience. Candidates not located within Appleton, WI will be expected to travel on a regular basis (up to 25%).
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design, implement, and manage systems based on Event-Driven Architecture (EDA) to ensure responsive and scalable solutions.
- Oversee messaging and middleware platforms, leveraging advanced expertise to enable seamless communication in global, multi-vendor integration environments.
- Lead large-scale integration projects by managing contracts, SLAs, and coordinating cross-functional teams across geographies to ensure successful outcomes.
- Develop and orchestrate enterprise data pipelines to optimize data flow, processing, and integration across the organization.
- Ownership of a multi-year roadmap for integration strategies, including adopting cutting-edge technologies like AI-powered integration or low-code/no-code platforms.
- Transformation of legacy technology and architecture into more modern, cloud-native platforms.
- Design integrations that comply with global regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA, and CCPA, while ensuring data sovereignty across jurisdictions.
- Optimize data mappings, anomaly detection in integrations, and API usage patterns.
- Upskill teams by creating reusable integration playbooks, conducting workshops, and establishing integration CoEs (Centers of Excellence).
- Implement KPIs for integration performance, such as message latency, API uptime, and error rates, and using them to drive continuous improvement.
- Oversee the lifecycle of data platforms, including upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 10 years as a Lead or Principal Architect role, currently.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Proven ability to design and implement event-driven systems using tools like Kafka, RabbitMQ, or AWS EventBridge.
- Deep knowledge of message brokering, including high-throughput and low-latency design with platforms like ActiveMQ, IBM MQ, or Solace.
- Hands-on experience orchestrating large-scale data pipelines integrating batch and real-time systems using tools like Apache Airflow, NiFi, HVR, Google Pub/Sub or Azure Data Factory
- Clear, demonstrated success in modernizing legacy ESBs (e.g., Tibco, IBM Integration Bus) to cloud-native, microservices-driven architectures.
- Deep knowledge of AI tools and technology to architect AI-Augmented Integration Strategies.
Preferred:
- Experience with cloud-native data platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS, GCP).
- Familiarity with advanced analytics, AI, and machine learning solutions.
- Knowledge of global regulations such as GDPR, HIPAA, and CCPA, with expertise in designing compliant architectures.
