About us: Prague is one of the most beautiful European cities as well as the cultural and economic heart of Central Europe. Almost 135 QuidelOrtho employees are supporting the following functions within EMEA Shared Services: Customer Service and Finance team, People & Culture and GIS team. Your new role: The Senior Global Azure Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing data pipelines and workflows to support business intelligence and analytics initiatives. With extensive experience in Azure Databricks and Azure Data Factory, the Senior Data Engineer will play a key role in transforming raw data into actionable insights, enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.
What you will be doing in your new role:
5+ years with cloud technology platforms (Azure or AWS).
Azure skills highly preferred, including provisioning, configuring, and developing solutions in Azure Synapse Analytics, ADF and Azure Databricks.
Experience working with structured, semi-structured and non-structured data types.
Experience with Delta Lake or Apache Iceberg formats.
Hands-on experience using MS SQL Server, Azure SQL or similar RDBMS platform.
Distributed Data Processing of big data using both batch and streaming pipelines.
Experience with partitioning and optimizing large data sets.
Understanding of Lakehouse/Medallion architecture.
Source control experience in Azure Dev Ops or GIT.
Experience with database migration from legacy on-prem systems to new cloud-based solutions.
Experience with database design and data modeling.
Problem-solving attitude.
Highly self‐motivated, self‐directed, and attentive to detail.
Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks.
Experience with Scrum/Agile development methodologies.
Desire to learn new and complex technical and business areas on an ongoing basis.
Essential Functions:
Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines using Azure Databricks and Azure Data Factory.
Implement ETL processes to integrate data from various sources into a centralized data warehouse or lake.
Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver solutions that meet their needs.
Optimize performance of big data workflows and ensure efficient processing of large datasets.
Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines to ensure data quality and consistency.
Develop and enforce best practices for data engineering, including version control, testing, and deployment.
Ensure compliance with data governance and security standards.
Provide mentorship to junior team members and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
Interactions:
Regular interaction with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, business analysts, and IT professionals.
Collaboration with external vendors and consultants to integrate third-party solutions.
Engagement with stakeholders to communicate project progress and gather feedback.
We would like to see a blend of the following skills, not all of these are required, however Databricks and Spark are highly desirable:
Azure Synapse (Dedicated, Serverless and Spark Pools).
Azure Data Factory.
Azure ADLS Gen 2 or AWS S3.
Azure Functions.
Azure Databricks - Notebooks, Workflows, Delta Live, Unity Catalog.
Strong SQL, Hive, Spark, Python, Polybase.
Azure SQL.
Azure Cloud Security Principals (Key Vault, User Access Controls, Networking.
