Department:
EDF Trading Markets Limited is the Paris Branch of EDF Trading and provides the base for the European Optimisation business. The optimisation of the EDF SA production assets on the European wholesale markets is conducted on a 24/7 basis by the Trading and Analytical Teams in Paris in close cooperation with the EDF Asset management. Optimisation and proprietary trading are conducted across multiple markets. This requires quick decision-making and the ability to react to changes in supply, demand, and market conditions. We are continuously building models, generating forecasts, and contemplating short-term energy market designs to ameliorate our strategies.
Internship opportunity:
We are seeking a motivated and talented intern to join the Intraday trading team in Paris and focus on the European electricity market.
The candidate will directly manage an innovative project. On top of learning with Power short term experts, the candidate will acquire experience in data science. The missions will consist of data scrapping, data analysis, modelling patterns and application development.
The intern will play an important role in developing strategy and apps directly used by Intraday traders.
Main responsibilities:
- Collaboration: Collaborate with our entire team to understand the project requirements.
- Data collection: Gather data from several sources and cleaning and organise it to create robust datasets.
- Market Modelling: Develop models to analyse key aspects of the electricity market and identifying trends
- Backtest: Test and validate on real-time conditions. If successful, implement and deploy new strategies for the desk.
- Application development: Design and Build front-end application for backtesting and monitoring purpose.
- Support: Assist in maintaining, updating and optimising existing tools and models as required.
This internship offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to work on impactful projects at the crossroads of data science, short term power markets, and engineering.
This experience will develop your technical skills and contribute to meaningful innovations in a dynamic environment.
Duration:
6 months
Hours of work:
35 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Personal and professional requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or related disciplines). Advanced degrees are a plus.
- Very strong analytical and quantitative skills.
- Must be result-driven, with a problem-solving mentality.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must demonstrate strength in programming and modelling (preferably Python), good skills in Machine Learning are required
- Interest in the functioning of the European power networks and energy markets.
- High motivation, enthusiasm and ability to work autonomously.
