About The Role
As a Data Engineer at Relay Payments you will be a crucial part of the company's success. You will construct and maintain the data infrastructure that facilitates informed decision-making across all departments, including identifying opportunities for automation and integrating them into data pipelines. In collaboration with analysts, engineers, and business users, you will leverage your expertise to deliver straightforward, maintainable, and user-friendly data products.
- Collaborate with your peers and cross-functional stakeholders to scope, plan, and execute data initiatives that are critical to the success of the organization. Exhibit a bias towards simple, maintainable, and easy to understand deliverables.
- Design, develop, and maintain data pipelines that extract, transform, and load data from diverse sources. Supporting a wide range of data products used across the business.
- Implement data validation and quality checks to ensure accurate, reliable, and complete data sets. Take ownership of data quality to diagnose risks, advocate for improvements, and implement remediations.
- Integrate our data with internal systems like Hubspot or Salesforce, injecting data into places where our team lives and works.
- Peer review code and deliverables from other team members, holding each other accountable to a high standard of work.
- Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and scalability issues with our current technology footprint.
- Partner with internal users to help them quickly answer data questions when needed.
About You
- 3+ years in a Data Engineering or similar role
- You are proficient with Python with a proven track record of creating simple and resilient pipelines for ingesting, storing, and processing data.
- You have deep SQL knowledge with the ability to create re-usable, well tested and performant data transformations.
- You’re thoughtful about modeling and structuring data for consumers with an eye toward simplicity and ease of use.
- You’ve worked with “modern” data stacks in the past (we use Redshift, Airflow, DBT, Looker) but know when you don't need these tools.
- You’ve built or used CI/CD pipelines to deliver work fast without compromising on quality.
- You can communicate technical concepts to a wide variety of audiences & stakeholders.
- You can diagnose technical problems, understand the root cause, and deliver a simple solution to resolve the issue.
