Job Title: BPA Data & Technical Lead

Contract Type: Permanent

Location: Alderley Park       

Working style: Hybrid 50% home/office based. Full time and part time considered.

Closing date: 9th February 2025

 

We have an exciting opportunity to join our growing bulk annuities team. In this role, you will leverage your extensive DB pension knowledge and leadership skills to build and manage the Data & Technical team which will be key to the effective delivery of bulk annuities to our customers. This role could suit a pension actuary currently working within a consultancy who would like the opportunity to progress their career at an insurer. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Building and managing the Data & Technical team.
  • Representing Royal London at meetings with trustee advisors as an SME on data implementation and benefit configuration.
  • Overseeing data processing, benefit configuration, batch processing, and feeds.
  • Implementing data management procedures within BPA.
  • Defining team scope and key interfaces with other parts of BPA.
  • Setting up and implementing robust processes with appropriate controls to mitigate the risk of errors.
  • Liaising with the BPA Pricing team to maintain  common data standards and processes and to maximise synergies.
  • Ensuring data quality for downstream processes through ongoing development and operation of data assurance procedures.
  • Configuring benefit calculations with scalable parameterisation, focusing on automation.

 

 

About You:

  • Actuary (i.e., FIA or FFA) with significant relevant professional experience.
  • Experience of managing senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop and maintain constructive relationships.
  • Understanding and hands-on experience with defined benefit pension calculations and benefit structures, including GMP equalisation.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Experience of leading and managing small technical teams.
  • Confidence and experience to support a range of activities, including bid material preparation and performing data migration activities
