Optus is at the forefront of AI, where we’re not just using existing tools but finding ways to push the boundaries of what’s possible. Like AI, the data landscape is changing rapidly so the intersection of data and AI is a big focus for us. In this role, you can truly help lead the way.

Your day to day will consist of...  

• Shape AI strategy and vision by leading the development of AI infrastructure focused on secure automation, scalable pipelines, and real-time capabilities to drive transformative business outcomes

• Innovate at scale by architecting and delivering cloud-native platforms for deploying and managing large-scale AI models, including LLMs, with seamless enterprise integration and regulatory compliance

• Drive excellence in MLOps by developing frameworks and observability systems for real-time model performance monitoring, data drift detection, and actionable insights that measure business impact

• Optimise multi-cloud strategies, balancing cost, performance, and scalability while managing vendor relationships and leveraging advancements in cloud technologies

• Promote operational excellence through automated testing frameworks and secure environments for data processing, ensuring the rapid and reliable release of AI solutions

• Lead and inspire a high-performing team of AI, cloud infrastructure, and MLOps specialists, fostering collaboration across corporate and startup-style teams to deliver innovative results

What makes you perfect for the role?  

• 10+ years of data governance experience in large, complex organisations undergoing significant change, with a proven track record in cloud infrastructure, AI automation, and scaling AI solutions in production environments

• Deep expertise in MLOps frameworks, commercial AI monitoring, and developing attribution systems that measure the business impact of AI initiatives

• Extensive experience managing multi-cloud environments, including cloud brokerage, cost optimisation strategies, and vendor management

• Strong technical proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), automation tools (CI/CD pipelines, Terraform, Kubernetes), and AI/ML tools (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, MLFlow)

• Proven ability to navigate the complexity of large enterprises while applying the agility and innovation of startup environments

• Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to inspire and influence senior executives, technical teams, and cross-functional business units
