Data Engineering Manager

Job Purpose:

The Data Engineering Manager will lead and expand our dynamic data engineering team, leveraging a strong expertise in data engineering, cloud technologies, and data architecture, combined with proven leadership skills. This role will oversee the design, development, and implementation of data pipelines, databases, and scalable data solutions to drive data-informed decision-making across the organization.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, providing guidance on best practices, career development, and project execution. Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment.

Data Pipeline Development: Design, implement, and optimize robust data pipelines that collect, process, and store data from various sources.

Data Architecture: Develop and maintain data architectures that support the company's data strategy, ensuring high-quality, scalable, and efficient data infrastructure.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with analysts, software engineers, and business stakeholders to define data requirements and deliver data solutions that support business goals.

Performance & Scalability: Ensure the data systems and pipelines are optimized for performance, reliability, and scalability.

Tool Selection & Implementation: Evaluate and select the appropriate tools and technologies for data storage, processing, and analysis. Ensure that best practices for data security and governance are followed.

Data Quality & Governance: Establish and enforce data quality standards, monitoring systems for data integrity and security.

Innovation & Process Improvement: Stay up to date with the latest trends in data engineering, cloud technologies, and big data systems. Continuously improve the team’s processes and technologies.

Technical Competencies/Skills:

-Proficiency in data engineering tools and languages (e.g., SQL, Python, Scala).

-Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

-Expertise in building ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines and data lakes.

-Strong understanding of big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Kafka).

-Experience with data warehousing and analytics platforms (e.g., Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery).

Requirements

Job Requirements:

Education:

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.

Experience:

8+ years of experience in data engineering or a related field, with at least 3+ years in a management or leadership role.
