Medior DevOps Engineer (Freelance)

Thanks to your work, your data science colleagues can deliver ML and AI solutions quickly and securely for our internal businesses. You goals is to streamline the development, deployment, and maintenance of ML and AI models and turn them into reliable and scalable products on our Data Science platform.

You will be part of the Data & AI team, where together with your colleagues you will play a critical role in the development and deployment of ML and AI systems for our clients. Together with our machine learning engineers you are responsible for our Data Science platform on Azure and the onboarding of ML models developed by the data scientists. Your work will ensure the platform is reliable and secure, models can be hosted and monitored, data connections and pipelines are in order and we can integrate seamlessly with platforms and applications of other teams. In short, enabling the data scientists to effortlessly release ML and AI products for our clients.

At NN we have large amounts of data from which we gain business value by using ML and AI. We have a substantial backlog of data science projects that require a solid platform to speed up the development- and implementation process.

What you are going to do

• Further develop and improve our Azure Data Science platform making use of PowerShell, Bicep, Pester, Bicep and Terraform. Improve and expand on our existing CI/CD pipelines (on Azure DevOps) for the platform as well as our AI/ML applications.
• Maintenance of our Data Science platform, including updating of documentation and registrations of services, keeping in touch with Risk and Security and central Group IT for news, updates and resolving of issues.
• Work together with our data scientists to deploy and maintain AI and ML systems, making sure they meet our production standards.
• Gather engineering best-practices from within and outside of NN and share the knowledge with our team.

Who you are

A junior to medior level candidate with a passion for programming and engineering with a can-do mindset. You can work autonomously but you can also collaborate well. You can explain the value of DevOps and can explain to colleagues what the best approach is and why. In addition, you have the following experience:

• Proven experience in engineering with the Azure stack, with which you can build modular and testable platform components using Infra as Code.
• Demonstratable programming, testing and debugging experience.
• Experience with GIT and CI/CD pipelines.
• Solid understanding of the software life cycle and what it means to bring an application to production.
• You win extra points with experience in SQL, Databricks, Python, building REST APIs, Docker, Networking, data engineering and ML system design.

Within NN the main spoken language is Dutch. If you do not speak Dutch, we welcome you to our team, provided that you understand Dutch.

You will be part of the Advanced Analytics & AI team that, together with data-viz and data management experts, make up our Data & AI department. Together we supply various data products for NN Life & Pensions, from operational to strategic levels, supporting them to service our customers best.
