Job Description Summary  

We're on the lookout for a talented Data Scientist to join our FNB Connect Credit team to shape the future of Fraud Prevention!

  • To plan, build, optimize and implement innovative quantitative analytical methodologies, procedures, products, and advanced mathematical models that provide analytical support and interpret insights, to address business opportunities and problems and implement business strategy, with minimal guidance. 

  • Participate in building of statistical models and data analysis to inform decision making and address business needs. 

  • Contribute to innovation by finding faster and more accurate ways of working. 

  • Contribute to teamwork and inclusivity within the team. 

  • Report on transactional and process activities within set guidelines to provide timely information for decision making 

  • Ensure operational excellence through the delivery of work processes according to defined quality standards 

  • Comply with relevant statutory, legislative, policy and governance requirements and adhere to processes and procedures related to area of specialisation 

 

You will be an ideal candidate if you: 

  • Qualification: Relevant degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Actuarial Science, Engineering 

  • Experience: A minimum of 2-4 years’ experience in a data environment including analytical model development and implementation.  

  • Data and analytics experience within a financial crime, fraud or anti-money laundering environment would be an added advantage. 

  • Has relevant experience with data preparation for analysis such as: data collection, data cleaning and data manipulation.   

  • Has knowledge of/or experience in Quantitative analysis and Model building.   

  • Intermediate to advanced coding skills in SQL & SAS. 

  • Competent to work with Microsoft tools (Word, Excel & PowerPoint).
