The following position is to join our RTX Technology Research Center (RTRC):

The Additive Manufacturing Process and Capability Center (AMPCC) encompasses a critical mass of Additive Manufacturing (AM) process and industrialization experts, the necessary equipment, and develops the strategic collaborations needed to rapidly mature the technology and manufacturing readiness of AM.  The AMPCC focuses on the research, development and deployment of additive manufacturing tools and processes for our business units.

The Summer Process Intern will be responsible for one or more of the following activities as they relate to the AMPCC, including: 

  • Developing post fabrication powder removal techniques 
  • Characterizing fabricated parts to understand defects and surface finishes 
  • Supporting the commissioning and verification of new equipment 
  • Designing and utilizing custom fixtures for machine characterization equipment 
  • Developing mathematical models and visual representations of experimental data 
  • Data analysis of builds, parts, or material samples
  • Operational support of AMPCC projects and lab activities

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in the field of Mechanical, Manufacturing, Chemical, Materials Engineering or related technical field and must not graduate before August 2025. Please submit a copy of your academic transcripts with your application.
  • Scripting experience with Matlab, Python, VBA, JavaScript or similar
  • CAD experience with NX, Solidworks, Creo, or similar
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

  • Experience with Additive Manufacturing concepts or equipment
  • Advanced mathematics and data analysis skills with a basic understanding of statistics

Location: This position is in East Hartford, CT and is an onsite role.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
