The role of Senior Manager, AI/ML & Screening, AML Models & Analytics is pivotal in applying advanced AI/ML and predictive/analytical modeling techniques, as well as the latest AML/ATF rules and scenarios, to develop new models and enhance the performance of existing Client and Payment Screening models. This role is crucial to the overall success of the Global Compliance and AML team by ensuring that specific individual goals, plans, and initiatives are delivered in alignment with the team’s business strategies and objectives. Additionally, this role is responsible for ensuring that all activities are conducted in compliance with governing regulations and internal policies and procedures, while also providing leadership and guidance to the team to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

 

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

 

  • Lead research and development initiatives for AI/ML strategies to develop and enhance models supporting Scotiabank’s AML/ATF client and payment screening activities.

  • Ensure that the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture are integral to day-to-day activities and decision-making processes.

  • Oversee the accomplishment of AML/ATF Program objectives through effective management and support of critical AML/ATF applications.

  • Provide strategic recommendations to improve monitoring systems and capabilities based on identified risk and control gaps.

  • Drive the efficient and effective operations of their respective areas, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.

  • Ensure the adequacy, adherence to, and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations related to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, and AML/ATF risk.

  • Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.

  • Foster a high-performance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates the team by promoting an inclusive work environment, communicating vision/values/business strategy, and managing succession and development planning for the team.

 

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We’d love to work with you if you have experience with:

 

  • A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or another quantitative field (preferred).

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of successful analytical and problem-solving initiatives.

  • Advanced proficiency in machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, and libraries like NumPy, Pandas, or Keras.

  • Expertise in Python and SQL for data analysis, reporting, and model development.

  • In-depth knowledge of AML/ATF sanctions’ screening solutions such as FircoSoft, HotScan, and Bridger is highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with PowerBI or similar data visualization tools is advantageous.

  • Exceptional time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.

  • Strong understanding of banking and payment operations, with the ability to apply this knowledge to enhance model performance and compliance.
