THE JOB:
The Senior Data Engineer I is responsible for leading, managing, and executing the design, development, and operationalization of data integration, engineering, and platform services to support enterprise-wide data initiatives. This role involves creating production-grade code across the full lifecycle—from envisioning and designing to development, testing, deployment, and ongoing operational support. All responsibilities will be carried out in alignment with departmental and MGM Resorts' policies, practices, and procedures.

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

• Lead end-to-end design, development, and execution of production-grade data integration and engineering solutions.

• Maintain technical documentation aligned with business and system requirements.

• Collaborate with leadership to implement new technologies that enhance platform performance.

• Partner with Product Management to ensure data design and implementation meet business goals.

• Mentor junior engineers and guide product trade-offs for intuitive solutions.

• Build cross-team relationships to communicate technology solutions and secure buy-in.

• Leverage Azure Databricks for big data processing and optimize performance.

• Utilize PySpark to build scalable data pipelines and process large datasets.

• Write advanced SQL queries for data extraction and analysis.

• Design and manage Data Warehousing solutions for efficient data storage and system integration.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience.

• 5+ years of prior relevant experience in delivering data integration, data engineering service and data platform solutions.

• Strong understanding of data integration, engineering best practices, and platform engineering.

• Familiar with data platforms, ETL tools, Cloud IAAS/PAAS, and scripting tools.

• Knowledgeable in data architecture, modeling, governance, quality, security, and compliance.

• Experience with real-time messaging, batch ETL/ELT, and data warehouse integration.

• Proficient in Azure Cloud services and tools.

• Previous experience in the hospitality industry.

• Strong collaboration skills, with a track record of building cross-team relationships and driving consensus.
