In this role, you will be part of our Data Platform Team and work with our enterprise data platforms to help design, implement, and maintain data pipelines that support our IoT solutions. You will be part of a team that ensures our data infrastructure scales efficiently to support our growing global customer base. 

The Junior Data Engineer, reporting to the SVP for Innovation, will have the opportunity to work with large-scale data processing systems while learning from experienced team members in a collaborative environment. 

With a flexible hybrid working schedule, you can enjoy the best of both worlds—engaging in-person collaboration at our Galway, Ireland office, while also enjoying the autonomy and comfort of remote work.

What You’ll Do:

• Design and implement ETL/ELT processes using Microsoft Azure Data Factory and related technologies 
• Assist in maintaining and optimizing SQL Server databases and data warehouses 
• Help develop and maintain data pipelines that process IoT device data from our global network 
• Collaborate with analytics teams to ensure data quality and accessibility 
• Support the implementation of data governance practices and documentation 
• Assist in monitoring and troubleshooting data pipeline issues 
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to our continuous integration practices 

Who You Are:

You’re a strategic thinker with a knack for operational excellence, ready to tackle multiple priorities with agility and grace. If you have: 

• 1-2 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft data technologies 
• Strong SQL skills and experience with SQL Server or Azure SQL Database 
• Experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, or similar ETL tools 
• Basic understanding of data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling 
• Familiarity with Python or PowerShell for automation and data processing 
• Experience with version control systems (Azure DevOps, Git) 
• Knowledge of data quality best practices and data validation techniques 
• Understanding of basic data security principles 
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills 
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment 
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field 

Preferred Skills: 

• Experience with Azure Data Lake Storage 
• Knowledge of Delta Lake or similar data Lakehouse architectures 
• Familiarity with Azure Databricks 
• Understanding of IoT data processing patterns 
• Experience with real-time data streaming concepts 
• Basic understanding of data governance frameworks 
• Knowledge of agile development methodologies
