Overview:
The CDC Foundation is seeking an Epidemiology Data Analyst who will serve in the Arizona Department of Health Services Food and Waterborne Disease program under the Office of Infectious Disease Control. This position will be responsible for the analysis and management of Arizona’s wastewater surveillance data. In addition, this position will work closely with the wastewater surveillance epidemiologist (WWS Epi) to interpret and report on wastewater surveillance data and submit data to CDC’s National Wastewater Surveillance System (NWSS). This position may engage with local health departments and additional stakeholders to provide guidance on wastewater data as well as the analytical Methods.
Qualifications:
· Bachelors in public health or a science-related field with up to 2 years of relevant data analysis experience or a MPH/MSPH or masters in public health or a science-related field. Preference given to degrees from an accredited University and/or School of Public Health.· Experience in Data Analysis· Proficient in SAS, R, Python, or similar data analysis platforms· Need to have the ability to travel to Arizona up to 10 times annually
Responsibilities:
· Responsible for the analysis and management of Arizona’s wastewater surveillance data;· Develop processes for analyzing wastewater data to identify any epidemiological trends and/or patterns;· Assist with gathering, cleaning, and organizing wastewater data, ensuring data integrity and accuracy;· Collaborate with WWS Epi on timely and accurate /submission of data to partners and CDC NWSS;· Assist with the management of wastewater dashboards as well as development of new dashboards, as needed;· Provide support with spatial data analysis and the management of GIS data;· Track data for timeliness and completeness, and establish processes to monitor factors as necessary;· Provide training and guidance to internal team members and/or partners on tools and best practices for wastewater data analysis and management;· Provide assistance in grant writing/deliverables;· Attend meetings with CDC and stakeholders to enhance wastewater surveillance activities in Arizona;· Provide assistance in additional wastewater activities and food/waterborne disease activities

This role is involved in a dynamic public health program. As such, roles and responsibilities are subject to change as situations evolve. Roles and responsibilities listed above may be expanded upon or updated to match priorities and needs, once written approval is received by both the CDC Foundation and Arizona Department of Health Services, in order to best support the State of Arizona in their public health programming.This position is currently a hybrid position.
