We cover a wide area of the data spectrum, including analytical data engineering, business analytics, experimentation, causal inference, statistical modeling, economics, and machine learning. In this role, you will be the methods and data domain leader for the Partnerships org - collaborating with business and engineering leaders to inform strategy, priorities, and performance optimization across numerous complex and fast-paced areas: prepaid (giftcards), platform partners (mobile app stores and consoles), sales org, and education initiatives. Work includes strategic advising, data leadership, experimentation leadership, and scenario modeling, with large autonomy and opportunity for broad company impact. We are in the early stage of a multi-year journey to operate within a rich partnership ecosystem, and seek a dedicated and passionate scientist to help craft and execute a large vision.

You Will:

• Provide strategic scientific thought leadership - be a methods expert to advise Business and Product and collaborate to build impactful products
• Build strategic performance measurement and reporting
• Design and lead measurement strategy, including experimentation on 1P and 3P surfaces
• Advance experimentation methodologies in collaboration with partners
• Hands-on data leader: deep in the data to augment intuition to advance long-term platform objectives

You Have:

• Experience in applied data science with embedded business experience
• 4+ years of proven experience in data science, economics, analytics, or data engineering
• 6+ years of experience using scripting languages (Python, R), and big data query/processing languages and tools such as SQL, Spark and Airflow
• Experience in experimental design and analysis (plus: experiments in environments with non-compliance and network effects)
• Proven aptitude in applied business analytics, reporting, experimentation, and causal inference, and track record of simplifying complex and ambiguous problems

You Are:

• A crisp communicator. You understand that analysis must be presented in meaningful ways and lead spirited discussions about the findings. You can explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences and discuss appropriate tradeoffs
• Curious, and evidence-seeking to update beliefs
• Highly proficient in a niche technical area: econometrics, data engineering, biostatistics, observational causal inference, causal ML, and / or data modeling
• Proficient in data and applied methodologies. You are familiar with scaled techniques (and explore new ones) to extract value and drive insights for strategic topics.

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensation and for benefits.

Roles that are based in our San Mateo, CA Headquarters are in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional in-office on Monday and Friday (unless otherwise noted).
