The Program
Mallinckrodt is offering an 11-week internship program, which provides an immersive experience in the world of pharmaceuticals. As an MNK Intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful and impactful work that compliments the degree you are pursuing. Here, you will be able to apply what you’ve learned in the classroom to a corporate environment. In addition, our internship program is designed to include networking opportunities across the company, professional development workshops, and community service.

The Graduate Intern will provide support to the Evidence Generation and Data Sciences (EGDS) department at Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals within Research and Development. This position offers a hybrid experience (remote and on-site in Bridgewater, NJ) over approximately 11 weeks in Summer 2025. Working under the guidance of an EGDS leader, the intern will engage in meaningful initiatives, gaining insight into evidence generation and data science.
Essential Functions
The Graduate Intern will gain hands-on experience in the EGDS field by:
Learning the Strategic Role of EGDS: Develop a comprehensive understanding of EGDS's function within the pharmaceutical industry, including the department’s structure, its interactions with other internal departments, and how it collaborates with external entities (e.g., vendors, Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), regulatory bodies).
Developing Scientific Writing and Communication Skills: Enhance scientific writing abilities through active involvement in EGDS publication support, including crafting, editing, and communicating EGDS information and insights to internal business partners.
Supporting EGDS Research Initiatives: Participate in both ongoing and new research projects as an EGDS researcher. Activities include reviewing and providing input on study design, data analysis, interpretation of results, quality assurance (QA) of research documents, and collaborating with study teams and other MNK personnel.
Conducting Literature Reviews and Landscape Analysis: Perform literature searches and reviews to identify unmet needs, treatment guidelines, and the impact of treatments on clinical, economic, and patient-reported outcomes.
Engaging in Cross-functional Team Meetings: Attend EGDS department and cross-functional meetings to foster a holistic understanding of how EGDS collaborates across Research & Development, and Commercial functions, including marketing and market access.
Presenting Research Findings: Develop and deliver presentations on research-related topics (using PowerPoint) to extended or cross-functional teams, refining communication and presentation skills.
Minimum Requirements
The ideal candidate will be pursuing a graduate degree in life sciences, pharmacy, public health, data science, outcomes research, or a relevant field with a strong interest in evidence generation and data sciences within the pharmaceutical industry.
Education/Experience: At least 1+ years of graduate study completed.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
Hands-on skills with data analysis tools (SAS or R preferred) and experience in literature review/search using Medline/PubMed is a plus
Coursework in Epidemiology, Research Methodology, Data Science, Statistics, Health Policy, and Economic Analysis is a plus.
Strong scientific writing and oral communication skills.
Experience working effectively on project teams.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Additional Preferred Qualifications (optional)
Critical Thinking and Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret and synthesize complex data sets to draw meaningful insights.
Adaptability and Initiative: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to change, and proactively seek learning opportunities.
Project Management Skills: Experience with project management tools or methodologies is a plus.
Organizational Relationship/Scope:
The intern will work under the supervision of an EGDS Leader and collaborate with colleagues across Research & Development, as well as Commercial teams (marketing, market access). This position offers the chance to develop cross-functional relationships, build a professional network, and gain insights into the integral role of data science in the pharmaceutical industry.
