Position Overview

The Senior Compliance Data Analyst position is responsible for the development, tuning, analysis, and ongoing maintenance of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)/Anti-Money Laundering (AML)/OFAC risk related models, including Data Validation, and is also responsible for application of Data Science and Analytics for BSA/AML/OFAC business uses.  Through these tasks, the position provides compliance oversight of the regulatory requirements of BSA/AML/USA Patriot Act and OFAC Laws, as well as, the general support of Wintrust’s BSA/AML/OFAC Program, Policies, and Procedures.  The role can be expected to have a blend of Business and Systems functions, with a need to combine business and compliance understanding with technical aptitudes and skills. The Senior Data Analyst position is expected to have seasoned experience and developed skills sets to address business problems, and is occasionally involved in unit related projects. 

What You’ll Do

  • BSA/AML/OFAC Modeling – Includes the start to finish development, testing, tuning, and implementation of BSA Department Models.  Activities are conducted on both 3rd party purchased models as well as homegrown models.  This includes but not limited to writing of code, the training / fitting of the model parameters, and meeting model risk management governance requirements.

  • Applied Data Science & Analytics – Includes the application of Data Science & Analytics to address new and existing business challenges within the subject of BSA/AML/OFAC. This includes discovery and clear reporting of business insights through data visualization tools, as well as recommending, developing, and implementing best practice business solutions. 

  • Documentation & Presentation – Includes complete & clear documentation of the Modeling and Analytic activities, as well as presentation of insights and recommendations to BSA Leadership.

  • Modeling & Analytics Subject Matter Expert Liaison – This position is expected to act as a key contact point for other Wintrust units that have overlapping interest.  These other units are principally IT Application Support, Project Management, IT Data Management, and other Compliance data analysts.  The position is expected to represent BSA from a Model and Analytics impact perspective.

  • Scrutiny Response – Includes responding to inquiries from internal and external validators, as well as regulators.  Responses include but are not limited to explaining models and solution processes clearly, as well as addressing any official findings and/or recommendations.

  • Other Duties – Includes addressing other duties as assigned relevant to the BSA Model Development Unit.

Qualifications

  • 4-7 years of related experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Analytics, Finance, Computer Science, or other Applied Quantitative Field (Significant Experience, or Degree Candidacy in-lieu of Degree)

  • Preferred applied experience in the Field of AML, Fraud, Financial Crimes or other transferable field.

  • Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, data transformation and queries (Power Query), PivotTables, data analysis, chart creation, and automation through macros / VBA.

  • Strong statistical background including experience in predictive modeling, hypothesis testing, regression analysis, and proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R, Python, SAS).

  • Preferred experience with machine learning models, SQL, and PowerBI or related tools.

Compensation

The estimated salary range for this role is $98,000-$132,000, along with eligibility to earn an annual bonus. Actual salaries may vary based on several factors, such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills and experience.
