We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Property Pricing to lead the actuarial pricing function for our property portfolio. This senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of property pricing, including the development and enhancement of pricing tools, management of attritional and catastrophe pricing, rate monitoring, and providing strategic support to the senior leadership team. The ideal candidate will be a skilled actuary with extensive experience in property insurance pricing, leadership, and a deep understanding of both traditional and advanced pricing methodologies. You will work closely with other business leaders, underwriters, and risk managers to ensure that pricing strategies align with overall business objectives and market conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead Pricing Strategy & Tool Development:
Oversee the design, implementation, and continuous enhancement of pricing tools and models used across the property portfolio.
Ensure pricing models reflect market conditions, risk exposures, and strategic objectives.
Manage the development and maintenance of attritional pricing models, ensuring that pricing accurately reflects the underlying risk exposures.
Lead the identification of emerging trends and adjust pricing assumptions accordingly to maintain profitability and competitiveness.
Oversee catastrophe risk pricing and ensure that models are robust, up-to-date, and reflective of the latest risk assessments.
Work with Exposure Management team to integrate catastrophe loss data and stress scenarios into the pricing process.
Ensure that pricing for catastrophe-exposed portfolios is aligned with global risk management strategies.
Rate Monitoring & Performance:
Continuously monitor pricing performance across property lines, identifying areas of concern and proposing corrective actions.
Lead the review and analysis of rate change and profitability.
Provide frequency support for performance management reporting
Strategic Support & Collaboration:
Provide leadership and actuarial expertise in support of overall business strategy, growth, and market expansion, ensuring that pricing decisions align with the organization’s broader goals.
Collaborate with senior management, underwriting, risk, and finance teams to drive cross-functional initiatives and support decision-making.
Advise on key pricing and portfolio management decisions, and influence business strategy based on data-driven insights.
Lead the annual profitability review and planning process for Property business segments
Work closely with underwriting management on strategy, prioritization, and training.
Leadership & Talent Development:
Lead and mentor a team of actuaries and pricing professionals, providing guidance, training, and professional development opportunities.
Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture within the pricing function.
Manage and develop a team of actuaries, analysts, and technical experts, ensuring alignment with the company's values and objectives.
Partner as critical member of the Actuarial Pricing leadership team.
Regulatory and Compliance:
Ensure pricing processes and methodologies are in compliance with local, regional, and global regulatory standards.
Work with legal and compliance teams to ensure that pricing practices meet the requirements of insurance regulators in different markets.
Qualifications & Skills:
Education & Experience:
10+ year actuarial experience and an ACAS or FCAS designation
Advanced degree in a quantitative discipline preferred, including but not limited to Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Computer Science.
Extensive experience in property insurance pricing, including attritional and catastrophe risk pricing, with a deep understanding of underwriting and loss data.
Proven track record in leading actuarial teams, developing pricing strategies, and managing complex projects in a multi-market environment.
Strong understanding of global property insurance markets, regulatory environments, and emerging risks.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong proficiency in actuarial pricing tools and software, data analytics, and modeling techniques.
Advanced knowledge of catastrophe risk modeling and pricing (e.g., RMS, AIR, or similar platforms).
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage relationships with senior business leaders.
Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to translate data-driven insights into actionable business decisions.
Exceptional communication skills with the ability to present complex actuarial concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Preferred experience with developing and implementing innovation and technology integration
Technical know-how including Excel, VBA, SQL and Python.
