Novocure is a global publicly-traded commercial-stage oncology company developing a profoundly different cancer treatment therapy called tumor treating fields (TTFields) for patients with solid tumors. TTFields therapy is a non-invasive, novel, antimitotic treatment modality that utilizes proprietary technology attempting to slow or reverse tumor progression by inducing tumor cell death.
Novocure's commercialized product, Optune, is approved for the treatment of adult patients with glioblastoma (GBM) in the USA, Europe, and Israel.
Novocure has ongoing or completed clinical trials and is further expanding its efforts into several other solid tumor indications - non-small cell lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, and other types of solid cancers.
We are looking for a Data-Scientist who will join our Biostatistics group in Israel.
The Data Scientist will work in a multi-disciplinary environment involving software engineers, physicists, algorithm engineers and physicians.
This full-time position is reported to Senior Manager, Data Scientist and located at our R&D center, Haifa, Israel
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Define and monitor metrics for Real World Evidence data quality and coverage.
- Develop machine learning models to extract data from complex documents, such as electronic medical records (EMRs).
- Perform survival analysis using state-of-the-art methods.
- Collaborate with medical experts to enhance medical datasets, lead discussions, understand project needs from partners, and integrate their domain knowledge into production algorithms.
- Work closely with engineers and scientists to incorporate data analysis methods into products.
- Provide stakeholders with entrepreneurial guidance to interpret findings, build on them, and fully exploit their potential.
- Write specifications and prepare presentations for patents, regulatory submissions, academic conferences, and other scientific publications.
- Actively participate in the full cycle of iterative big data exploration, including hypothesis formulation, algorithm development, data cleansing, testing, insight generation, and visualization.
- Apply proven methods and hacking skills to work with diverse data types, scales, and big data, exploring and extrapolating data-driven insights using advanced predictive statistical modelling and testing on cleansed data from various sources.
QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE:
Qualifications:
MSc or PhD in a computational or statistical field (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Software Engineering, Operations Research, Biomedical Engineering), or equivalent experience.
Knowledge:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in Data Science, preferably with biomedical data.
- Strong foundation in Machine Learning methods.
- Proven experience with Python.
- Excellent data intuition.
- Proficient in Data Science languages, tools, and frameworks, including data processing platforms (e.g., Python, SQL, scikit-learn, NumPy, Pandas, Keras, Hive, Spark SQL).
- Experience in working and modeling temporal data.
- Ability to collaborate with global partners to deliver complex projects.
- Independent problem solver capable of tackling complex algorithmic challenges with minimal guidance.
- Quick learner, adaptable, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to conduct meetings, make professional presentations, and explain complex concepts to non-technical users.
- Ability to deliver end-to-end AI projects (from inception to production).
- Team player capable of working in a multidisciplinary environment with software engineers, physicists, algorithm engineers, and physicians.
- Familiarity with image processing methods is an advantage.
- Familiarity with AWS or Google Cloud is an advantage.
- Background in Bioinformatics is an advantage.
