Summary
The Grid Data and Analytics department is responsible for supporting OT data and analytics across Power System providing electrical engineering performance and data engineering competencies. The Senior Manager will be responsible for leading the newly established Grid Performance Center (GPC), a distribution and transmission engineering-focused group. This group works to improve the management of growing data requirements in order to meet stakeholder business needs such as availability, integrity, and standards – and then scaling to the Power System department. The team is also responsible for providing grid analytics and insights by using reporting, monitoring, and the trending of grid data.
The Grid Data and Analytics department will also lead the team in the creation and deployment of data handling management processes and analytical platforms for Generation, Transmission, Distribution, and Supply & Trading. They are responsible for driving the definition and management of a Data Governance framework for the Power System department and its components; set a strategic agenda for data and analytics across Power System, prioritize business requirements in collaboration with business units, and coordinate implementation and maintenance of analytical tools.
The department will also be responsible for promoting data quality in the OT data ecosystem, as well as facilitating cross-business unit alignment and Power System implementation of SRP-overarching data guidelines. They will work closely with Cyber Security Services to guarantee the safety of stored data by following enterprise guidelines, and with Information Technology Services to ensure OT procedures are aligned toward a common model of data architecture and integration.
This Senior Manager role is expected to have several individual contributor direct reports, with span of control expected to be 5-10 direct reports plus management of various consulting and contracting services. This Senior Manager role will report directly to the Director of OT Strategy & Services.
What You'll Do
- Build OT data capabilities while overseeing all data and analytical support requirements across Generation, Transmission and Distribution, including the data ecosystem, infrastructure and governance for Power System.
- Create common OT grid data and analytics standards by building and deploying a common data management standard for OT data management and quality across Generation, Transmission, Distribution and OT Business Units.
- Partner with Generation, Transmission and Distribution organizations to define and prioritize data use cases and ensure the technical data environment can support them.
- Support business unit data needs in Generation, Transmission, and Distribution while building out the analytical tools needed.
- Proactively manage the OT technical environment, including architecture that will support business requirements and specifications for practical usage.
- Ensure that OT data management and priorities are in alignment with enterprise Operational Technology, Information Technology Services, Cyber Security Services strategy, policies, and architecture.
- Handles other projects and duties as assigned.

- Lead the Grid Data & Analytics Department to create models, data sources, and tool requirements needed to improve the data discipline and grid analytics and insights of the grid.

What It Takes To Succeed
- High-level understanding of electric grid operations, regulatory requirements, and engineering standards is required.

- General knowledge of Operational Technology and Information Technology functions in a utility context.
- Knowledge of optimal data standards to ensure data quality in the data ecosystem and cyber security to ensure data system resilience.
- Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot data-related issues and identify effective solutions.
Experience
Minimum of 8 years cumulative and progressive professional experience
- 7+ years of experience overseeing the creation and maintenance of data lakes, considering compliance with utility-specific regulations and requirements.
- 5+ years of experience leveraging tools such as Enterprise PI to structure data for analysis in an operational decision-making capacity across multiple use cases.
Education
Completion of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment. in Engineering or IT
Hybrid Workplace
SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
