Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a skilled and motivated Software Engineer to join our Cyber Intel team here in Laurel, MD. As a Cyber Software Engineer, you would be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying a complex and scalable web application that leverages a Kubernetes cluster to orchestrate a collection of containerized services.

 

This work supports a prime program that delivers a wide set of capabilities across the enterprise to include the following:

  • Data management and delivery capabilities such as dataflow management, streaming analytic frameworks, a user-driven rules-based data management system, and the development and maintenances of customer systems and tools
  • High ingest rate cloud-based content and metadata architecture, analytic platforms, and enterprise-wide support of a suite of tools to improve developer and operator experience/productivity

To support an evolving infrastructure requires the use of methodologies that provide flexibility while reducing time-to-mission of new capabilities.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development:
    • Design and develop a robust and scalable web application architecture.
    • Develop and implement RESTful APIs and microservices using Python or Java.
    • Develop and maintain containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
    • Design and implement data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and serving data to the web application.
    • Develop and implement data visualization and interactive dashboards using libraries like Solid, React, or JQuery.
  • Testing and Deployment:
    • Write and execute unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests.
    • Implement continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
    • Deploy and maintain the web application in a production environment.
  • Data Science Integration:
    • Integrate machine learning models (developed in Python or other languages) into the web application.
    • Develop and implement data science workflows and pipelines.
    • Ensure the quality and reliability of data science models in production.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate effectively with data scientists, engineers, and product managers.
    • Communicate technical information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Active TS/SCI security clearnace with polygraph is required.
  • Fourteen (14) years experience as a SWE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
  • Four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience with Python or Java.
  • Experience with web application development frameworks (e.g., Flask, Django, Spring Boot).
  • Experience with data pipelines and data processing tools.

Desired Expertise:

  • Understanding of Kubernetes concepts such as deployments, services, pods, namespaces, and resource management.
  • Experience with Kubernetes operators and custom resource definitions (CRDs).
  • Experience with Kubernetes monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
  • Experience with Apache Spark is a plus.
  • Experience with a cloud platform such as AWS.

Target Salary Range

$135,000 - $216,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
