JOB SUMMARY:
The Data Engineer will collaborate closely with a team of skilled data scientists and AI/ML engineers to develop innovative solutions that enhance guest experiences at our destinations and boost engagement with our digital products. This role requires a solid background in computer science, data engineering, and technology. The Data Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring that our AI/ML models have access to the high-quality, real-time data they need for training, validation, and deployment. Key responsibilities include ensuring seamless data integration across systems, optimizing data workflows, and automating ETL processes. The role also involves monitoring data pipelines, ensuring data quality, and implementing best practices in data governance and performance optimization.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
AI/ML Data Enablement
- Collaborate with data scientists and AI/ML engineers to design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines that support the development of machine learning systems focused on personalization and innovation.
- Develop and optimize ETL processes to ensure efficient data flow from multiple sources into AI/ML systems, ensuring the data is clean, consistent, and available in real-time.
- Work with large datasets, transforming raw data into structured, usable formats for model training, validation, and deployment.
- Ensure seamless data integration across various platforms and systems to meet the requirements of AI/ML applications in production environments.
AI/ML Data Operations
- Monitor data pipelines for performance and reliability, identifying and troubleshooting any issues while optimizing processes for scalability and efficiency.
- Establish and uphold best practices for data governance, including security, compliance, and data quality.
- Support model performance tracking by ensuring relevant data is readily accessible and usable in production environments, facilitating real-time analytics.
Documentation and Best Practices
- Create and maintain detailed documentation for all data pipelines, ETL processes, and integration workflows to ensure clarity and transparency for future development and troubleshooting.
- Develop and enforce data management standards and guidelines, including version control, naming conventions, and access protocols.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure adherence to industry best practices in data engineering and ensure all stakeholders understand the data lifecycle, usage, and availability.
- Regularly review and update data documentation to reflect changes in data sources, transformations, and pipeline architecture.
- Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or in a relevant applied quantitative field is required.
- Master’s degree is preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering or data science, working with cross-functional teams to implement data and ML/AI solutions in real-world applications;
- or equivalent combination of education and experience.
