Nemours Children's Health is hiring a Senior Enterprise Intelligence Developer to support our quality, safety, and clinical excellence effort as well as our population health management programs.

This is a remote position.

This role requires advanced Business Intelligence, analysis, and SQL skills to develop dashboards, write ad-hoc queries, design analytics, data extract, and measurement solutions, and help our teams find patterns and meaning in the data.   Experience with EHR data and/or healthcare claims data, healthcare operational and clinical concepts, and other related topics is a must.    A solid foundation in statistics, Epic EHR functionality, and data analysis strongly desired.  We are looking for a self-managed, collaborative team player who can support both our Quality & Safety and Value Transformation teams as well as help develop the skills of other team members.   

The Senior Data Intelligence Developer plays a crucial role in ensuring that data related to patient care, safety, quality improvement, and outcomes is accurate, accessible, and actionable. This role is responsible for maintaining the integrity and effectiveness of business intelligence solutions, collaborating with a team of developers, and driving continuous improvement in data management practices. Key responsibilities include data management and governance, analysis and reporting, process improvement, collaboration and communication, and technology and innovation.

This position supports quality methodologies to design improvement processes, making meaningful use of current information systems to enhance healthcare, and delivering actionable insights to empower decision-makers to improve patient outcomes, optimize processes, and reduce costs.

Data Management and Governance:

  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of data through regular audits and validation checks.  Make recommendations for optimizations where appropriate.
  • Follow policies and procedures for data management, including data security, privacy, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Maintain and upgrade data systems to meet evolving healthcare needs and technological advancements.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Work with other data developers, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
  • Train and mentor new team members to enhance their skills and knowledge in data management and development.

System Development and Maintenance:

  • Develop data solutions (dashboards, reports, business intelligence tools, etc.) and perform data analysis to measure processes and outcomes.
  • Collaborate with IT and business units to enhance reporting capabilities and improve data accuracy.
  • Serve as technical lead and subject matter expert in business intelligence solutions (report/dashboard) development to successfully facilitate the delivery of these items in support of clinical and business objectives.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Work with Data Analysts to create dashboards that help identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement in patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Create mashups that provide insights into key metrics and support decision-making processes.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with clinical staff, Information Systems, Quality & Safety, Data Analytics, HER build teams and other departments to ensure data systems meet stakeholder needs.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand data needs and ensure data solutions align with organizational goals.
  • Work with stakeholders on how to understand the Qlik app, using the appropriate level for the intended audience.

Continuous Improvement and Innovation:

  • Stay current with the latest technologies and methodologies in data management and development to continuously enhance the organization’s capabilities.
  • Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to optimize data processes and systems.
  • Participate in researching and evaluating new technology products or suggest changes/enhancements to existing products as required to support the overall Nemours Enterprise Intelligence strategy.

Project and Data Management:

  • Work with teams to gather requirements, develop metrics, retrieve data, and ensure the validity of results through cross-validation, data cleansing, and quality checks.
  • Contribute to projects and data requests from beginning to end, ensuring thorough documentation and status updates.
  • Assist in developing and executing analytical and investigative activities to provide stakeholders with information and tools for strategic decision-making, planning, healthcare utilization, clinical outcomes, provider patterns and variations, trends and forecasting, data and informatics needs, and emerging technologies.
  • Collaborate with enterprise data warehouse, data governance, quality improvement, clinical informatics, clinicians, and business teams on data quality issues and the structure of data repositories impacting analytics.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in application development required; 6+ years preferred.
  • Proficient in SQL, Qlik, Python , Snowflake, Power BI or Tableau.
  • Knowledge of healthcare terminology and clinical workflows preferred.
  • Current or previous Epic Data Model certifications are preferred.
  • Cogito/Caboodle Certifications are a plus.
  • Reporting Workbench and Slicer/Dicer are a plus.
