Junior Data Engineer for Databricks (all humans)

What to do:

Erste Digital is operating and enhancing a harmonized Analytics and Data Science workbench and collaboration platform across all entities of Erste Group on Databricks cloud environment. We ingest and manage large number of datasets ranging from GB to TB scale incoming from a variety of source systems. To support us in this challenging activity we are looking for a Junior Databricks Data Engineer.

In this position you will:

• Get a hands-on experience with Databricks platform and PySpark

• Participate on managing, operating and improving a centralized data ingestion framework

• Setup and manage data ingestion pipelines

• Communicate with data consumers and solve raised data quality incidents

• Help developing and implementing data quality frameworks

• Expand the capabilities of our platform with testing and evaluating new Databricks features

Requirements

You check these boxes:

• Hands-on experience with SQL and Python (data processing and analysis)

• Analytical skills (collecting descriptive statistics, exploratory data analysis)

• Understanding fundamental software engineering practices (version control, CI/CD)

• Fundamental understanding of data ingestion patterns and data processing operations

• Clear verbal and written communication

• Learning mindset, systematic and collaborative approach

• Documentation practices

• Not mandatory but beneficial: experience with Databricks and/or PySpark, experience with DataOps or MLOps, HashiCorp Terraform, MS Azure Cloud ecosystem

• Language skills: English professional proficiency, German is a plus
