Job overview and responsibilities

The Data Architect for Digital Customer Journey is accountable for proactively and holistically leading or supporting activities within the product groups that align with the overall enterprise architecture and meet the Group Strategy, Security & Compliance standards. This role is pivotal in enhancing the digital experience for our customers by ensuring seamless data integration and accessibility across digital platforms.

Data Architects provide the necessary leadership, analysis, and design tasks related to the development of a product or a set of products within a Product Group. They work closely with DevOps / Development teams, Domain Architect and suppliers to ensure that the value planned will be delivered in the most optimal way according to the product strategy and the technology strategy.

The Data Architect is also accountable for the integration execution within the scope of their product/product group, collaborating with Integration Architects. She/he will be focused on digital customer journey applications in the IT landscape (integration with CRM, e-commerce platforms, customer analytics, etc.).

More specifically, her/his responsibilities are the following:

• Create a blueprint or framework that defines how data is stored, organized, integrated, and accessed across the organization for digital customer journey applications.
• Design technical solutions and guide the delivery team for the choice of technology/software based on end-user requirements and security guidelines.
• Design solutions to integrate data from various sources within the organization. This involves ensuring that data from different systems can be combined and used cohesively to enhance the customer experience.
• Implement security measures to safeguard sensitive customer data from unauthorized access, ensuring data privacy, and compliance with relevant regulations.
• Optimize data systems for improved performance, ensuring that data can be accessed and processed efficiently to support customer-facing applications.
• Select appropriate database management systems, data storage solutions, and other technologies that align with the organization’s needs and future scalability requirements.
• Contribute to the development of the organization’s data strategy, outlining the roadmap for how data will be utilized to achieve business goals related to the digital customer journey.
• Collaborate with other architects of the organization (enterprise, data, platform, etc.) to ensure alignment and integration of digital customer journey initiatives.

Education and experience

• University degree in data, digital technologies, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with data management disciplines, including data modelling, data integration, and data security.
• Proficiency with different database technologies (SQL, NoSQL, etc.) and database management systems like SQL Server, etc.
• Knowledge of ETL tools like Talend or Apache Nifi.
• Understanding of data warehouse concepts, structures, and best practices.
• Familiarity and ability to design with cloud platforms and services like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud (Certifications).
• Implementing data encryption, masking, and auditing techniques.

Communication and collaboration skills.

• Proven working experience with data management concepts and activities including an understanding of industry best practices for data modeling, data quality, metadata, and data management principles, policies, and guidelines.
• Experience in data governance capabilities, including standardized data vocabularies and related capabilities (business glossaries, data dictionaries, etc.).
• Experience developing standardized data vocabularies across large organizations and multiple units is strongly preferred.
• Experience with data issue identification, analysis, and remediation.
• Working knowledge of complex technology systems, with the ability to effectively communicate with business partners.
• Communicates effectively (both written and oral) to all levels and can deliver difficult/sensitive information tactfully.
• Be able to find and implement solutions to data management and utilization challenges.
• Be able to identify and mitigate risks related to data management and security.
• Be able to adapt to frequent changes in technology and business requirements.
