Position Summary
Utilizes independent judgment in prioritizing and performing clinical and research image post-processing, advanced data analysis and research support services.
Job Responsibilities
- Communicates directly with Radiologist or ordering physician to determine post-processing specifications to provide most relevant diagnostic information for patient care
- Produces 3D images and reconstruction from CT, MRI, and PET datasets for visualization of anatomic structures, functional imaging, and delineation of physiologic and pathologic processes. Produces quantitative measurements when indicated.
- Provides image post-processing & data analysis necessary for surgical & procedural planning. Ensures that data is properly formatted for compatibility with image-guided surgical guidance platforms and networked to appropriate workstations.
- Trouble-shoots computer networking issues as needed.
- Determines validity of images being utilized & the resultant output. Notifies PI or physician if validity & quality are not sufficient; works to resolve. Ensures that images have correct parameters, no motion & anatomy is covered adequately.
- Updates scheduling and billing records, indicating that a 3D procedure was performed and properly linked to the correct radiology exam.
- On behalf of the PI, ensures that imaging adheres to protocol-specific requirements. Establishes imaging requirements, modality protocol(s), acquisition of test images, data de-identification and transmission procedures.
- Responsible for establishing study-specific protocols when required.
- Creates study budgets and reviews regulatory documentation. Communicates directly with research team for missing information.
- Provides trainings and site education to collaborating sites on research studies.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in related field
Experience
Advanced degree such as MS, MA, or MBA in relevant knowledge area(s) coupled with extensive experience in medical in vivo image analysis and in depth knowledge of human physiology and anatomy as documented by previous work experience, satisfactory completion of relevant courses, and/or publications in the peer-reviewed literature may be considered in lieu of ARRT certification.
Approximately 4 years of related experience.
Extensive knowledge and experience in cross-sectional imaging, anatomy, physiology, gross pathology, medical terminology, and radiologic patient positioning.
In-depth knowledge of current technology in CT, MRI, and PET imaging acquisition parameters, across multiple vendor equipment.
Moderate IT experience with Windows OS and networking.
Experience in 3D and/or quantitative image post processing.
Previous experience in multi-modality image post processing.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Independent decision making in area of expertise as it relates to position and in prioritizing workload, including as it relates to patient care, and ability to exercise good judgment.
- Excellent communication skills necessary to collaborate with researchers, referring clinicians, imaging physician specialists, radiologic technologists, research sponsors / CROs, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute value as a member of a multi-disciplinary team, supporting co-workers when necessary to ensure a positive experience to collaborators and smooth operations
Licenses and Certifications
- ARRT certification.
- Advanced ARRT registration in CT, MRI, PET, and/or US.
