Summary:

We are seeking an Analyst, Strategic Analytics to join the rapidly growing Strategic Analytics team helping GEICO uncover key data-driven insights to solve complex challenges. The analyst will tackle analytical projects focused on building intelligence products that help to inform our strategic direction and transformation. Activities include wrangling and presenting data, translating strategic questions into concrete analytics, working with leadership to answer ad hoc requests, and land market-leading research products to build internal expertise.  The Strategic Analytics group, under the SIU Fraud Data Intelligence team, combines data analytics, strategic thinking, in-depth research, and data science skillsets to solve complex business challenges for the claims organization and the broader company.

This position will be graded according to experience and skill at the discretion of the Hiring Manager.

Pay Range:

Salary Range of $72,000 - $113,000 D.O.E.


Requirements:
Research & Analytics

  • College Degree Required (Quantitative Background/Related Field) OR 5 years prior analytics experience.
  • Gather and organize data into useful data sets through data aggregation, cleaning, combining, and/or other suitable means.
  • Assist leadership with ad-hoc specialized analyses
  • Communicate analyses and findings through concise, professional writing & presentations focusing on effective storytelling through visualizations
  • Support large, complex analytical projects, through comprehensive analytics and insights with a forward-looking perspective to help leadership frame key decisions
  • Proactively communicate potential analytics conclusions, findings, and insights by leveraging the right analytic tool to test individual hypotheses within larger, complex business problems

Storytelling Through Data

  • Translate conceptual questions into data-driven analyses to allow leaders to make informed decisions
  • Structure and guide modeling efforts that underpin strategic recommendations
  • Transform data into useful information tailored to leadership needs through storyboarding and data visualization
  • Grow and challenge technical, business, and strategy acumen under guidance of leadership
  • Ensure on-time delivery of analysis and presentations

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Deliver quality work under tight timelines and shifting priorities depending on the current project portfolio
  • Analytical mindset and a desire to take on tough and challenging projects
  • Understanding of insurance, analytics, and a strong business acumen
  • Experience in either insurance and/or analytics preferred
  • Proficient with data manipulation (data structuring, wrangling) and analysis
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Comfort with ambiguity
  • Written and verbal communication skills; strong presentation skills with ability to "tell the story"
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively on a team supporting a cohesive and effective work environment
  • Ability to work effectively across functions and levels; comfort collaborating with teammates in both and in-person and virtual environment
  • Bachelor's Degree in business, accounting, finance, mathematics, computer science, economics, or a technical discipline
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language. Python preferred but will consider SAS, R, Javascript or C++.
  • Intermediate to expert level SQL, excel and Powerbi skills required.
  • High level of intellectual curiosity

LOCATION:

  • Remote considered with travel to Chevy Chase, MD once a month
    • DMV area preferred


 

Annual Salary

$89,000.00 - $154,000.00

The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate’s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
