Job Description
The Data Analyst 3 on the Credit and Payments Analytics team is responsible for delivering advanced data analysis and actionable insights to support Nordstrom's credit portfolio and payments business. This role involves conducting deep-dive analysis, developing strategies, and producing detailed reporting to monitor portfolio performance, optimize credit risk strategies, and enhance payment solutions. The Data Analyst 3 will work closely with cross-functional partners and external stakeholders to provide data-driven recommendations that drive profitable growth, improve the customer experience, and mitigate risk. Additionally, this role includes mentoring junior analysts and contributing to team development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Advanced Analytics & Decision Support:
- Deliver data-driven analytics and actionable insights to guide strategic decision-making within the Credit and Payments organization.
- Conduct advanced analysis to interpret credit card acquisition trends, portfolio performance, and card marketing campaign effectiveness.
- Develop and monitor forecasts, KPIs, and expectations for credit and payment strategies, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Data Reporting & Insights:
- Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and presentations to communicate key insights and trends to internal stakeholders.
- Summarize complex data into actionable recommendations and present findings clearly to cross-functional partners and senior leadership.
- Monitor emerging trends in account vintages, portfolio performance, and payment behaviors, sharing insights with relevant teams.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with key internal stakeholders, including Marketing, Finance, Product, and IT, to support credit and payment initiatives.
- Work closely with external partners, such as TD Bank, to ensure alignment on strategies, reporting, and performance expectations.
- Team Mentorship & Leadership:
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior analysts, fostering their technical and professional development.
- Act as a subject matter expert (SME) within the team, ensuring best practices in data analysis, reporting, and model development are followed.
- Ad Hoc Projects:
- Respond to ad hoc business requests with timely and accurate analysis, driving actionable insights to solve complex problems.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Data Science, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- 4+ years of experience in financial data analysis, preferably in the consumer credit card or payments industry.
- 2+ years of experience in applying statistical techniques, including experimental design and hypothesis testing.
- Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in SQL, BigQuery, SAS, or Python for data extraction, manipulation, and analysis.
- Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
- Strong skills in creating macros, automating repetitive tasks, and optimizing code for efficiency.

Pay Range Details
The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.
Colorado: $89,000- $147,000 annually, Washington: $102,500- $170,500 annuallyThis position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses. Benefits include 401k, medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance options, PTO accruals, Holidays, and more. Eligibility requirements may apply based on location, job level, classification, and length of employment.
