Oliver Wyman is adding a Data Governance Analyst to our Data & Analytics team.

The Opportunity:

The Data & Analytics function (dna) drives the enterprise data and analytics strategy for the firm. The dna is responsible for establishing a data foundation, building capabilities while setting standards and measurements for data quality, compliance, security, and retention of our data assets.

In this role you will be primarily responsible to support our firm-wide Data Governance and Data Quality initiatives. You will partner with analysts embedded in the businesses and functions, to ensure our core data sets (employees, clients, organization structures) provide a complete and accurate reflection of our business.

Since you will be working in a DG team and will contact different stakeholders, collaborative skills are also required. You will help shape the future of what data-driven organizations look like, drive processes for sourcing, analyzing and interpreting data in creative ways.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Administrative activities and processes required for effective data management and sustainable data quality improvements.

  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of the core internal datasets (such as clients, CIT) in Salesforce.
  • Run regular data quality checks and controls for client/account/CIT data using CM DQ dashboards: identifying issues, conducting root-cause analysis, and suggesting remediation plans as necessary to improve (address) data quality.
  • Work on resolving data quality issues and ensure that corrective actions are documented.
  • Follow established guidelines and provide operational support for data management workflows.
  • Assist in data profiling and escalate issues to senior team members.
  • Collaborate with technology groups (data architects), data owners and consumers to define and refine data requirements and to align data practices with business needs.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of the data dictionary and internal DG process and workflows documentation (data governance guidelines, processes, data requirements, and data quality standards).
  • Coordinate efforts with other team members to ensure organizational structure changes are implemented and reflected across all DnA workflows and resources (including hierarchical structure alignment; data classification and organization; system-level adjustments; key data sources validation; and updates to DQ model, DG guidelines and reference lists).
  • Communicate changes to data governance standards and procedures to relevant stakeholders and ensure awareness and adherence.
  • Support implementation of the new systems and data migration activities through data cleansing, validation and testing various scenarios and functionalities related to data management processes during UAT sessions.
  • Provide periodic insights and status updates.
  • Identify the tools, process or process changes needed to enable and drive data accuracy and effective data management.
  • Assist in development and delivery of new data sets and reports/analytics content to support business strategic decisions.

Experience Required:

  • Bachelors / MS in a quantitative discipline e.g., applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, information systems, econometrics, or related field
  • 0-2 years of experience in business analytics and business support functions
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to collect and organize information with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Very strong Microsoft Excel (analytical) skills
  • Knowledge and experience working with Tableau software (Tableau Desktop, Server, and Data Prep.) would be an asset
  • Experience in Agile delivery methodology in a data and analytics context is a bonus
  • Experience working with CRM platform is beneficial
  • Familiarity with Business Intelligence (BI) tools (such as Oracle (OBIEE), Business Objects, etc.) or RMDB’s (such as SQL Server, Oracle) is nice to have
  • Experience in statistical programming (R, SAS, and/or Python), a plus.

  • Strong desire to learn new skills and pass knowledge acquired onto others
  • Keen attention to detail with deep quantitative and analytical skills and demonstrated capacity to solve problems and enhance reporting
  • Strong relationship building skills and ability to build alignment among customers and key stakeholders with demonstrated experience influencing without authority
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, deadline driven, highly dynamic atmosphere and react quickly to changes and shifting priorities.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to translate numbers into a story
  • You need to be curious by nature, understand how data is produced in our various underlying systems and how reporting and analytics content is compiled so that data can be turned into actionable business insights to support the firm’s strategy.
