Job Scope

The Power BI (Front-End) Developer/Reporting Analyst will be responsible for supporting and enhancing the current reporting framework for various departments, including Sales, Business Units, Operations, Finance, and Accounting. This role will involve developing advanced reports and interactive dashboards using Power BI, MS Azure, and Excel, while focusing on front-end development that prioritizes intuitive design, user-friendly navigation, and visual appeal. The candidate will also support data modeling efforts, ensuring seamless integration with back-end data sources.

A crucial aspect of this role includes designing intuitive, user-centric dashboards and reports that optimize user experience (UX) for stakeholders across the organization. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver insightful, data-driven solutions that facilitate decision-making and drive business goals, with an emphasis on creating outputs that foster seamless adoption and usability.

Responsibilities

Reporting and Dashboard Development:

  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and reports in Power BI and Excel to support business units.
  • Ensure all dashboards follow UX/UI best practices, creating user-friendly and visually appealing interfaces that allow stakeholders to quickly access and interpret the necessary data.
  • Use DAX, Power Query, and other BI tools to create advanced reports, focusing on clean design, data clarity, and intuitive user flows.

​Collaboration:

  • Work closely with Sales, Operations, Finance, and other departments to understand their data needs and deliver customized reporting solutions with a strong focus on usability.
  • Engage with stakeholders to gather feedback on dashboard design and functionality, iterating on improvements to create seamless user experiences.

Data Modeling:

  • Develop and maintain complex data models to support business reporting requirements.
  • Transform raw data into meaningful insights through data manipulation, integration, and preparation, always considering the end-user’s interaction with the final output.

System Support and Maintenance:

  • Provide ongoing maintenance and support for existing reports and dashboards, ensuring they remain accurate, relevant, and updated.
  • Continuously improve the UX of existing dashboards by implementing design updates and enhancements based on user feedback and new UI trends.

Training and Documentation:

  • Develop training materials and conduct user training sessions to empower team members to use Power BI reports effectively. Ensure materials focus on how to navigate dashboards and extract key insights quickly.
  • Create and maintain clear, user-friendly documentation for data models, processes, and reporting standards that prioritize ease of understanding.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, or related field experience.
  • 3+ years of experience working as a Power BI Developer, Data Analyst, or in a similar role.
  • Proven experience in building advanced Power BI dashboards and reports with a focus on UX/UI design.
  • Proficiency in MS SQL for writing queries, managing databases, and working with large datasets.

Technical Skills:

  • ​Strong expertise in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, and data modeling.
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-based data services is a plus.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and VBA.
  • Knowledge of UX/UI principles, particularly in the context of dashboard and report design.
  • Familiarity with design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD) to mock-up dashboard layouts is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of database design, data warehousing, and ETL processes.
  • Familiarity with other BI tools (e.g., Tableau, SSRS) is an advantage

Soft Skills:

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Keen eye for design, with attention to detail and a proactive approach to ensuring that dashboards are both functional and visually appealing.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • User-centered mindset, constantly striving to improve how stakeholders interact with data and visualizations.
