What you’ll do: As a BI Engineer you will be responsible for using tools and analytics to understand the connections between our internal data systems. This role requires an individual capable of exploring, understanding, integrating, and automating transformations across disparate databases and systems. This position will interface primarily with internal stakeholders to produce and maintain data solutions that help drive an increase in informed, data-backed, decision-making. A successful candidate has extensive experience in Power BI, SQL, and process/workflow automation and demonstrates extremely close attention to detail, is self-motivated, and excels at working both independently and on dynamic, cross-functional teams. 

About the role: As a BI Engineer you will contribute to a variety of technical and operational areas by: 

Designing and implementing comprehensive reports, dashboards, data visualizations, and data resource products that uncover actionable business insights. 

Developing and optimizing SQL queries for Snowflake data extraction, analysis, and integration with other data sources. 

Automating data processes and workflows to increase operational efficiency. 

Analyzing complex data sets to identify patterns and connections that provide insights to support key business decisions. 

Creating and maintaining internal data resource solutions that are accessible, reliable, and scalable. 

Working with business and technical teams to translate data needs into automated data solutions. 

Regularly auditing and validating source data to ensure accuracy and consistency across internal systems. 

Providing training and support to internal teams on utilizing reporting tools and data resource solutions. 

Identifying opportunities for process improvement and data integration across systems to enhance data accessibility and utility. 

 

About You: You’re a good fit for the role of BI Engineer if you have: 

A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a data or quantitative field (e.g. data analytics, data science, computer science, statistics, operational research). 

3-5 years of experience working as a Data Scientist, Business Intelligence Analyst, Data Engineer, or equivalent role. 

Extensive experience with Power BI, including advanced knowledge of data transformations in PowerQuery, precise visual formatting skills, and data visualization expertise. 

Intermediate proficiency in SQL, including general data warehousing and management concepts. 

Deep understanding of data systems, integrations, and reporting tools. 

Proven ability to create and maintain internal data resources, including databases, reports, and dashboards. 

Strong familiarity with SharePoint and Power Automate a plus (including administrative/backend experience, workflow design and development, and cross-platform integrations)  

Experience leveraging Generative AI/LLMs to increase efficiency and productivity an additional plus. 

Strong attention to detail, with a focus on ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and consistency. 

Self-motivation, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work independently. 

Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills related to data and automation workflows. 

Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. 

Diverse experiences across problem spaces, companies and cultures. 

Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. national security clearance

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations. For any eligible US locations, unless otherwise noted, the base compensation range for this role is $88,200 - $163,800. This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance. Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual’s knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
