About the Role: S&P Global is seeking candidates for our 10-week summer internship program within the Sustainable 1 Research & Methodology Team, based in London.
The Team: The S&P Global Sustainable1 Research & Methodology Team’ sits within S&P Global Commodity Insights organization. S&P Global Sustainable1 is a leader in ESG data and risk analysis, providing data, tools and insights to companies and financial institutions for the last 20 years in order to inform capital allocation to more sustainable business models and better communicate ESG performance to their stakeholders. The team innovates and delivers essential data and intelligence to companies and financial institutions so that they can better understand their exposure to ESG risks and opportunities and report in line with mandatory and voluntary reporting requirements. The team is composed of experienced professionals driven to identify the transformative solutions of tomorrow.

Responsibilities and Impact:
- Support the development of ESG Analytics Services for non-financial corporates and financial institutions that provide in depth analytical insights on the ESG performance of company operations, value chains, and investment portfolios using S&P Global’s proprietary data, methods, and analytics.
- Conduct in-depth research on thematic developments, reporting standards, competitors, industry market trends and issues, including exploring datasets from Commodity Insights and their useability and potential for future product development.
- Help maintain, and enhance proprietary analytical models and databases currently marketed to clients such as non-financial corporates and financial institutions.
- Support thought leadership and writing insight papers based on research highlighting recent market developments and government policies.
- Work collaboratively with S&P Global’s technical, product development, technology, commercial and marketing teams on new product innovation and support the build out new data and analytics products on our technology platforms.
What We’re Looking For:
Basic Required Qualifications:
- Fully matriculated undergraduate or graduate students in penultimate year of study
- Strong quantitative skills, including experience using Excel and/or other data analytics tools
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize technical data to develop insights on environmental and financial performance at the company and portfolio level
- The candidate should be conscious of detail and numerically proficient with natural curiosity, and an innovative approach to problem solving
- Strong problem-solving and logical reasoning skills - should be able to independently troubleshoot and question data
- Highly motivated, results oriented and aptitude for self-learning.
- Strong interpersonal skills, customer focus, and hold a high regard for stakeholder relationships.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of some of the following sustainability areas that companies and financial institutions are involved in: TCFD and TNFD Reporting, ESG integration, environmental risk analysis, green finance, GHG Accounting across company value chain
- High proficiency in data analytics, including coding in Python or R, SQL, Microsoft Power BI
- Modelling and data science experience is a plus.
- Pursuing degree in relevant subjects such as Economics, Environmental Economics, Development Economics, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management, or relevant work experience
