Amazon Robotics empowers a smarter, faster, more consistent customer experience through automation. Amazon Robotics automates fulfilment center operations using various methods of robotic technology including autonomous mobile robots, sophisticated control software, language perception, power management, computer vision, depth sensing, machine learning, object recognition, and semantic understanding of commands. Amazon Robotics has a dedicated focus on research and development to continuously explore new opportunities to extend its product lines into new areas.

Amazon Robotics co-op opportunities will be based out of the Greater Boston Area in our two state-of-the-art facilities in Westborough, MA and North Reading, MA. Both campuses provide a unique opportunity to have direct access to robotics testing labs and manufacturing facilities.

This role is a minimum 6 month co-op ranging from May/June-December 2025.

The Process Engineering Team is responsible for continuous improvement in the manufacturing areas focusing on safety, delivery, quality and cost. The team also works with other internal and external Amazon engineering departments helping develop manufacturing solutions for new products.

Key job responsibilities
• Manage the development of Packaging concepts with preferred Packaging Vendors and Component part Suppliers.
• Coordinate packaging performance testing, qualifications and validations per ISTA standards.
• Plan and direct activities concerned with design and development of packaging: Analyze engineering drawings and specifications of product to determine physical characteristics of component, special handling and safety requirements.
• Direct development of sketches, specifications, samples and written analyses of proposed packaging solutions for design approvals from cross functional groups.
• Provide optimum trailer loading configuration to Logistics partners to maximize cubing efficiency.
• Create, update, and maintain all packaging specific part numbers in PLM system.

About the team

Basic Qualifications


- Currently enrolled in Packaging Science Program or Mechanical /Industrial Engineering program with a Packaging Minor or interest
- Familiar with packaging base materials and systems
- SolidWorks and AutoCAD Design background
- Ability to review, write and implement packaging SOP’s and WI’s
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Be comfortable working in a fast pace environment with constant project ambiguity and churn.
- Junior year or above in Engineering program
- Currently enrolled in College/University and must have at least one semester/term/quarter of school left to complete after the end of the co-op
- May 2026 graduation date or later
- Must be eligible and available for a full-time (40h / week) internship from May/June- December 2025

Preferred Qualifications

- Knowledge of Artios CAD packaging design software suite
- Familiar with Transportation and Logistics Principles. Working knowledge of palletizing and trailer loading software suites such as TOPS, CAPES, and EasyCargo.
- Familiar with Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) calculation methods. Working knowledge of Sustainability impact software such as Compass (Trayak).
- Familiar with industry test standards (ISTA and ASTM).
