The Sr. Analytics Engineer will be implementing new data integrations, semantic layer modeling and implementation. They will help with reduction of system efficiencies and help with initiatives on platform and data governance. With their efforts, the data and analytics platform will continue to grow in visibility and usage with expanded reach and self-servicing. The Sr. Analytics Engineer is needed to create a cost effective platform structure, stability and performance at scale.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Data Analysis: Perform in-depth data analysis to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement related to Oportun's financial products.
  • Market Research: Stay updated on industry trends and customer needs, providing insights and recommendations for product enhancements.
  • Product Development: Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and designers to contribute to the development and improvement of financial products.
  • A/B Testing: Plan, execute, and analyze A/B tests to evaluate the performance of product changes and optimize features.
  • Customer Insights: Leverage customer feedback, surveys, and research to understand user behavior, preferences, and pain points.
  • Reporting: Create and maintain detailed reports and dashboards to track product performance and KPIs. The work spans both structured roadmap tasks on data analytics from a variety of business and product team stakeholders, as well as ad-hoc tasks for data analytics.
  • Competitive Analysis: Analyze competitors' products and strategies to identify opportunities for Oportun's product differentiation.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with various teams, including marketing, compliance, and operations, to align product strategies with business goals. They are expected to understand the end-to-end business flows along with the data mapping at various steps of the work, to help various stakeholders with analytics of various metrics from diverse data sources.
  • Documentation: Document findings, insights, and recommendations for product enhancements and communicate them effectively to stakeholders. They will help create templates for analytics tasks and automate repetitive tasks.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of related experience; or an advanced degree with relevant internships.
  • ·The Sr. Analytics Engineer will have the expertise to work with data technologies like Databricks, Alation, Microsoft Excel, and various data sources like MariaDB, AWS Redshift, etc. to deliver on their work responsibilities. Proficiency in data analysis tools and languages e.g., SQL, Python, R; and data visualization tools e.g., Tableau, Domo, Power BI.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information, with the ability to identify and address system issues and data discrepancies.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized with a focus on delivering results.
  • Strong customer service orientation, with the ability to provide timely and effective support to system users.
  • Good working proficiency with data technologies like Databricks / Snowflake / any large-scale data lake.
  • Good working proficiency with dashboarding tools like Domo / Power BI or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of data governance tools like Alation / DBT
  • Should have advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Excel.
