Role overview
The Head of Data & Insights will be responsible for enhancing the quality and range of insights produced by MHP Group, to inform strategy and measurement, develop new consultancy products, standardise our measurement and research methodologies, and improve our use of AI.
This role combines client-facing work with business development, knowledge management and training.
As the Head of Data & Insights at MHP Group, you will:
Consultancy:
- Serve as a centre of excellence for MHP Group’s use of research, briefing in, producing and interpreting data to inform the work of our Strategy team and client teams
- Support new business processes by developing insights that inform strategic recommendations
- In both cases, articulate and present the data & insights to internal and external audiences as appropriate, to help persuade the client to adopt our strategic recommendations
- Develop, sell and deliver research proposals for clients. Turn a nascent revenue stream into a significant business line, based on a rigorous set of methodologies and a credible go-to-market proposition
Knowledge management and AI training:
- Manage MHP Group’s library of proprietary data & insights, to ensure that relevant data sets and reports are easily accessible and deployed appropriately by colleagues
- Align our Data & Insights strategy with our approach to AI, including by helping to develop MHP Pulse (MHP Group’s LLM bot) on our data sets and reports to ensure that it understands our agency’s point of view, methodologies, tone of voice and insights, in order to give more tailored responses to employee prompts
- Build and maintain relationships with data providers, research companies, behavioural insights consultancies and AI services companies, to ensure that we have a best-in-class range of partners and tech stack
Product development:
- Working with other teams as appropriate, develop new data and analytics products, which can be sold to a wide range of agency clients, building on our tech stack to offer an MHP Group-branded solution in the following areas:
- Brand profile and positioning analysis
- Influencer Mapping
- Competitor Analysis
- Channel Strategy
- Audience engagement
- Campaign measurement
- Tailor our suite of AI and analytics tools to our agency’s needs and develop the “MHP Group way” to use key tools, including Signal AI
Marketing:
- Work with the wider leadership team and the marketing team to design and develop and improve the quality and impact of thought leadership for MHP Group, to strengthen brand perception and drive new business lead generation. This will include, but not be limited to existing IP, such as
- MHP Polarisation Tracker
- Trust Analytics
- MHP Group Trends Reports
- Specialist audience research (EU Health Policy Makers, Fintech leaders, Investors, MPs, 30 to Watch Journalism Award-winners, etc)
- Support and serve as a critical friend on MHP Group’s data-led marketing initiatives
- Serve as an ambassador for the brand by presenting MHP Group data & insights across a range of owned, social, earned channels and platforms, working with the Marketing team to develop a calendar of opportunities
Learning & development:
- Work with HR and Practice leads to deliver a range of training opportunities for colleagues, to help them understand how best to use data & insights in their work and to make better use of the MHP Group tech stack
- Identify and develop data & insights ‘champions’ within each practice, helping to develop their expertise and make them effective advocates for the role of data & insights in their teams and among their clients
You will:
Essential qualifications and experience:
- Degree: Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field
- Professional Experience: Significant experience (typically 10+ years) in data analysis and insights within a communications, research, marketing, or consultancy environment
- Client Engagement: Experience in client-facing roles, with the ability to translate complex data into meaningful insights and present this thinking to clients
- Business Development: Demonstrated success in identifying and developing new business opportunities and consultancy products
- Research Methodology: Expertise in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies and standardisation of such methods
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to think strategically and integrate data insights with broader business objectives
Desired qualifications and experience:
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency with data analysis tools (e.g., R, Python, SQL) and platforms (e.g., Tableau, Google Analytics)
- AI and Machine Learning: Knowledge of AI and machine learning techniques and their application in data analysis and insights
- Certifications: Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Certified Analytics Professional, Google Analytics Certification)
- Public Speaking: Comfort with public speaking and thought leadership, including speaking at industry events and conferences
- Networking: Strong professional network of relevant contacts and prospects
