Deliver technically complex solutions. Responsible for developing, building, and maintaining data or BI or content management, document composition platforms on on-premise infrastructure and cloud (SaaS) instance, where appropriate. Designs and implements fault tolerant systems (High Availability, Disaster Recovery) and creating a cloud-native enterprise data platform that drives near real-time decision-making.This role sits in the Enterprise Technology Data & Analytics Office representing the Business Intelligence Center of Enablement (COE). The role sits adjacent to the BI platform architects / owners and involves responsibility to maximize ROI on Enterprise Business Intelligence (BI) platforms through expert consulting, community engagement, POC’s, UI/UX design and other enablement services. To be successful in this role, the individual will be proficient in one of our BI platforms and passionate about learning new ones. The individual will also have relevant BI delivery experience with the ability educate and enable other BI developers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
** Hiring grade level Engineer III or II**
Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time.
1. Enables BI platform consumers by leading consultations designed to address specific problem scenarios brought forward by BI developers (developer guidance and how to consultations)
2. Create new and troubleshoot existing Business Intelligence data models as a normal course of community consulting and for internal COE analytics applications
3. Create new and troubleshoot existing Business Intelligence presentation layer objects using basic and advanced functions, expressions, etc.
4. Possesses knowledge of dimensional modeling with the ability to create, interpret, and troubleshoot data models in the context of BI applications.
5. Performs feature; functionality demos to small and large audiences designed to promote adoption and maximize the use of BI platforms.
6. Stays abreast of industry trends and best practices as they relate to Truist’s core BI platforms
7. Efficiently creates test data sets in execution of BI prototypes using a variety of tools, such as text editors, SAS, Python, Qlik Sense, Power BI, DBMS, and other data prep platforms.
8. Leads UX and UI consults through data visualization guidance, user story and wireframe creation, dashboard re-design, and theme and template application
9. Develops BI applications for internal use cases pertinent to the BI COE.
10. Lead Proof of Concepts on emerging technologies for the purpose of evaluating new BI technologies for the Truist environment.
11. Partners with Engagement Lead to create technical documentation and co-leads platform “Office Hours” and business unit engagement meetings
12. Partners with Platform Architects on tool policy documentation, license management, workaround solutions, upgrade testing, and escalated platform support
13. Contributes to community newsletter and other BI COE marketing materials
14. Develops methods to measure, track, and increase BI adoption and utilization rates
15. Leads small to medium projects with manageable risks and resource requirements with minimal supervision
QUALIFICATIONS

1. Bachelor's degree and six to ten years of experience in systems engineering or administration or equivalent education and related training or experience.
2. In-depth knowledge of Linux, Unix, Windows Shell Programming, Python, Git, Networking, Storage Systems, data/BI/ content/ document composition platforms
3. Previous experience in planning and managing IT projects
4. Ability to provide direction and mentor less experienced teammates. Ability to interpret and convey complex, difficult, or sensitive information
5. Effective verbal and written communication skills
Required Qualifications (Level II):

1. Bachelor's degree and four to seven years of experience in systems engineering or administration or equivalent education and related training or experience.
2. In-depth knowledge of Linux, Unix, Windows Shell Programming, Python, Git, Networking, Storage Systems, data/BI/ content/ document composition platforms
3. Previous experience in planning and managing IT projects
4. Ability to provide direction and mentor less experienced teammates. Ability to interpret and convey complex, difficult, or sensitive information

Preferred Qualifications for both roles:
1. Master’s degree and ten+ years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
2. 4 plus years’ experience developing dashboards, reports, data models, and BI semantic layer architecture in one of the following platforms: Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, Sigma, or Microstrategy.
3. Public speaking experience and confidence delivering technical presentations to small and large audiences
4. Understanding of dimensional data modeling (star vs. snowflake) and the ability to architect efficient data models in Power BI and Qlik
5. Ability to write advanced SQL queries, stored procedures, SAS scripts, etc. in support of BI deployments and POC’s
6. Knowledge of specific applications, technology platforms, programming languages, systems, or business segments
7. Banking or financial services experience. Knowledge of one or more of the following: Solid foundation in engineering Data/ BI/ Content & Document composition platforms, platform architecture and design with strong analytical and debugging skills
8. Professional experience building resilient platforms or services from the ground up and scaling at an enterprise level
9. Experience with Open Source tools and frameworks
10. Experience with cloud technologies, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
11. Experience using web servers, application containers, caching technologies
12. Experience with build tools, such as Git, Maven, and Jenkins.
13. Proven ability to write comprehensive unit and integration tests
