Senior BI Analyst: Reg & Risk

Job Purpose

To determine strategic and enterprise business insights through analysing business processes, analysing data flows, mining data, defining measurement goals and storyboarding.

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct research by undertaking and documenting feasibility and impact studies.
  • Create proposed solutions based on the Business Requirements Definition (BRD).
  • Produce High-Level Designs (HLD) using the BRD.
  • Deliver final solutions by obtaining customer acceptance and sign-off.
  • Generate innovative ideas to keep the team relevant.
  • Perform a Business Analyst role for the team, supporting and maintaining relevant documentation, SharePoint sites, Jira, etc.
  • Communicate effectively on progress/status updates and next steps.
  • Contribute to a culture conducive to achieving transformation goals by participating in Nedbank culture-building initiatives (e.g., staff surveys).
  • Participate and support corporate social responsibility initiatives to achieve key business strategies.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance processes, systems, and policies, and support the implementation of new processes, policies, and systems.
  • Engage and agree on proposed solutions as contained in High-Level Design (HLD) documents through iterative engagements with clients.
  • Conduct regular feedback sessions with developers to ensure alignment with technical specifications.
  • Build collaborative relationships by assisting the team with resolutions of technical issues.
  • Adhere to the customer engagement model by communicating new or changed solutions.
  • Keep customers satisfied by providing regular feedback sessions and defining relevant operational level agreements (OLA).
  • Ensure work is completed on time by adhering to deadlines.
  • Gather and document business requirements (BRD) by facilitating information gathering sessions with customers.
  • Produce technical specification documents by identifying and analyzing relevant data sources, documenting and applying business rules, and creating dimensional models and cube designs.
  • Explain designs to front and back-end developers by facilitating technical sessions.
  • Produce report/dashboard specification documents by engaging with clients and developers.
  • Ensure quality of output and alignment to requirements by conducting/coordinating unit, integration, and user acceptance testing.
  • Ensure compliance with standards, policies, and procedures throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Keep abreast of legislation and other industry changes impacting the role by reading relevant newsletters, websites, and attending sessions.
  • Understand and embrace the Nedbank vision and demonstrate the values through interaction with team and stakeholders.
  • Improve personal capability and stay abreast of developments in the field of expertise by identifying training courses and career progression for self through input and feedback from managers.
  • Ensure personal growth and enable effectiveness in performance of roles and responsibilities by ensuring all learning activities are completed, experience practiced, and certifications obtained and/or maintained within specified time frames.
  • Ensure information is provided correctly to stakeholders by maintaining knowledge sharing with the team.

  • Lead and mentor a team of BI Analysts, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Provide guidance and support to team members, helping them develop their skills and advance their careers.
  • Set clear goals and expectations for the team, and regularly review performance to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Encourage innovation and continuous improvement within the team, promoting a culture of learning and development.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration within the team and with other departments.

Minimum Experience Level

  • 4 years+ experience in IT, BI, or Data environment

Essential Qualifications - NQF Level

  • Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees

Preferred Qualification

  • Diploma, Certificate, Bachelor of Science: Information Technology

Preferred Certifications

  • Certification in a STEM-related field or Data-related
