The University of Miami/UHealth Dean's Office - MSOM has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Data Analyst 2 to work at the UHealth Medical campus in Miami, FL.
CORE JOB SUMMARY
The Data Analyst 2 (H) for the AVP of MSOM performs a variety of data analysis using various techniques. This role assists in developing or implementing systems to capture business operation information. Key responsibilities include analyzing data to ensure accuracy and reports any issues to management and identifying opportunities to enhance data collection and analysis. This role also works collaboratively with other internal areas and may guide less experienced data analysts.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
Performs data analysis using various techniques, e.g. statistical analysis, explanatory and predictive modeling, data mining. Determines best practices and recommends actionable insights for the current business operations. Performs ad-hoc analyses and reporting, to aid management in the decision-making process. May build dashboards or reporting systems for end users pertaining to assigned project(s). Provides business data interpretation, such as identifying trends or patterns of data sets. Assists in the dissemination and reporting data, which may include presentations, workshops, and related activities. Analyzes data to ensure accuracy and reports any issues to management. Identifies opportunities to enhance data collection and analysis. Assists in developing or implementing systems to capture business operation information. Guides less experienced data analysts. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience. Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
- Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
- Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
- Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.

- Proficiency in computer software (i.e. Microsoft Office)

Department Specific Functions
The AVP of Administration at the Miller School of Medicine is seeking a Data Analyst 2 with strong business analyst experience to join our dynamic team. This role will focus on leveraging data analytics to support academic programs, research initiatives, and administrative operations. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of analytical skills and business acumen to drive informed decision-making across the institution.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Analysis and Reporting:
Gather, clean, and analyze complex datasets to identify trends and insights relevant to academic performance, research outcomes, and operational efficiency.
Create and maintain interactive dashboards and comprehensive reports for stakeholders to facilitate data-driven decisions.
Business Requirements Gathering:
Collaborate with faculty, administration, and IT teams to elicit business requirements and translate them into actionable data strategies.
Conduct stakeholder interviews and workshops to understand needs and document processes.
Project Management:
Lead data-centric projects from conception to implementation, ensuring alignment with the school’s strategic objectives.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to execute initiatives based on analytical findings.
Strategic Insights:
Analyze and interpret data to provide strategic recommendations that enhance educational outcomes and research effectiveness.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to support continuous improvement initiatives within academic and administrative functions.
Data Governance and Compliance:
Ensure the integrity, quality, and compliance of data management practices in accordance with institutional policies and regulations (e.g., FERPA).
Develop and implement data governance frameworks to support effective decision-making.
Training and Mentorship:
Mentor and support junior analysts in data analysis techniques and tools.
Provide training to faculty and staff on data interpretation and utilization.
Department Specific Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in data science, Business Administration, Statistics, or a related field; master’s degree preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in data analysis, with at least 2 years in a business analyst role, ideally in an academic or healthcare setting.
Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:
- Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) and statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, Python).
- Strong understanding of academic operations, curriculum development, and research methodologies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to diverse audiences.
