Cloudera Sales Engineers are the technical leaders in the sales account team. We are responsible for securing technical wins in each sales opportunity and building ongoing relationships with our customers to ensure their success with Cloudera technologies. You will use your strong technical skills and business acumen to understand customers’ challenges, design solutions and demonstrate how Cloudera technology can change their business. This position is for a candidate with experience working with the Australian Public Sector based in Canberra. Please note that, for this role, we can only consider Australian citizens with NV1 security clearance or above. As a Senior Sales Engineer, you will:
Own the technical sales process from introductory meetings (net new sales) through post-sales (customer satisfaction, upselling, and subscription renewals)
Support the technical needs of customers, including discovering new use cases for Cloudera’s technology
Design solutions for your customers’ needs using Cloudera technologies based on reference architectures and common patterns
Demonstrate Cloudera products in a way that inspires your customers to say “yes” to Cloudera.
Partner with your Account Managers to show your customers the true value of a Cloudera solution and drive successful sales
Present product roadmap and vision to inspire your customers to think bigger
Interface with other Cloudera teams to ensure your customers hear one Cloudera voice
Advocate for your customers’ needs to the Product Management and Engineering teams
Participate in external publicity and evangelism (conferences, meetups, webinars, blogs)
Achievements are aligned to a team goal with annual sales targets and your participation in knowledge exchange with customers, peers and the wider community.
We’re excited about you if you have:
A passion for using technology to make a difference to people and organisations. We'll supply some amazing tools to help you with this, and you'll provide the connection to use cases, which make it real for your customers
A minimum of 8 years experience in a customer-facing role, ideally in a pre-sales context
The ability to create and give technical presentations and demonstrations
Experience with some of the following technologies:
Big Data, Data Warehousing or Relational Databases
One or more of the three major cloud service providers (AWS, Azure or GCP). Formal certification is desirable.
Experience in Data Engineering, Data Science or Machine Learning processes and workloads
Operations, Security and Data Governance within the enterprise
Unix or Linux
SQL, Python, R, Spark, Airflow, NiFi, and Kafka are preferred
Experience gathering and understanding customer business requirements
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Confidence in presenting to large audiences and leveraging Storytelling techniques.
Problem-solving skills and assertive communication.
A willingness to learn, a curiosity to discover and a drive to make your customers successful
