The Private Investments Middle Office sits within Investment Operations and supports Private Markets in the areas of Investment Analytics & Reporting, FX-Hedge Program Management, and Cash Management.

As a Student, Private Investment Middle Office, you will assist our team in reconciling cash movements across Private Markets portfolios, preparing FX trade order entries, automating investment reports, and conducting ad-hoc research. You will also contribute to the enablement of insight-driven decision-making. You will be a team player with a keen interest in Private Investments. A quick learner with exceptional communication skills, you will prepare updates for Private Markets teams and coordinate the delivery of actionable investment data among other AIMCo teams. You will interact with various stakeholders across the organization, including Finance & Operations, Fiduciary Management, Trading Desk, and Private Markets teams. You will also possess good time management skills to handle multiple tasks concurrently, manage competing expectations, and meet tight deadlines.

Note: This is a 4-month, full-time term from May 2025 through August 2025.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Assisting with reconciling cash movements

  • Completion of Weekly Hedge reporting

  • Assisting with automation of Private Investments monitoring reporting

  • Assisting with adhoc research and reporting

Our Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
  • Completion of third year undergraduate studies or higher in Accounting, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, Math, Statistics, or related field

  • Returning to studies in Fall 2025 or finishing final work experience terms

  • Knowledge of programming languages (Python, VBA, SQL) and relationship databases

  • Proficient with Microsoft Applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook)

  • Knowledge of Power BI or other visualization tools is a strong asset

  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Candidate preferred

  • Good understanding of derivatives (Forwards, Options, Swaps), and familiarity with private assets investment performance metrics and valuation approaches

  • Involvement in any student organizations pertaining to the investment industry is an asset

  • Proven attention to detail and eye for accuracy is required

  • Effective analytical, organization, and time management skills in order to meet tight deadlines

  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to AIMCo’s core values of excellence, transparency, humility, integrity and collaboration, while inspiring the same in others

Success Measures:

You will know success on the Private Investments Middle Office team when you become comfortable with the team's operational processes. After receiving guidance from the team, you will be familiar with the team’s methodologies and processes. You will be able to look back at the end of your term knowing that you were a contributing member to established processes, projects and improvement initiatives.
