The Business Data Analyst will be responsible for working directly with senior-level executives within the United States Postal Service (USPS) to design and develop financial dashboards which display key financial and business performance information in a user-friendly manner. This will enable the Director of Finance to easily identify key trends and analyze the performance of the organization.  To accomplish this, the Business Data Analyst will gather data from financial and contract systems as well as consolidating invoice data.  S/He will develop Excel spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, and Power BI dashboards/reports to assist in the analysis and communication of project financial data and identifying trends across a large enterprise.  The successful candidate will also demonstrate excellent client engagement, written and oral communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills. 

 

* Location within Washington, DC or Raleigh, NC with possible option of some hybrid telework.

 

Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Design, develop, and maintain detailed financial dashboards for key financials such as expense, cash flow, forecasting expenditures, budget variance, estimates to complete, etc.
  • Perform testing and validation on data input to ensure the accuracy of financial dashboards
  • Conduct variance analysis and explain the root cause to management
  • Perform regular reviews of financial data to ensure that the information is accurate and up-to-date
  • Collaborate with Budget Administration to identify key financial metrics to track and report on
  • Clearly communicate funding status and analysis to C-level executives on a regular basis
  • Develop data visualizations and presentations that effectively communicate financial performance trends to executive management and stakeholders
  • Provide training to the Director and Budget groups on how to use and interpret the financial dashboards, spreadsheets, and Power BI documents created
  • Provide recommendations on process and financial improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy to existing budget processes and strategy to streamline financial efficiency for stakeholders
  • Prepare financial reports, forecasts, budgets, and documentations as required.
  • Apply excellent consulting and interpersonal skills to a wide range of business situations
  • Interview clients, define budget requirements, develop cost estimates and research data issues

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related fields with experience creating financial dashboards, Excel documents, and Power BI presentations.

  • Minimum 12 years of relevant experience delivering progressively sophisticated business and financial data analysis services to a large enterprise or organization
  • Expert level experience working with financial data with expert level data analysis skills in Power BI and dashboards
  • Expert level skills with Excel using advanced formulas, pivot tables, and macros and with using Power BI with the ability to create interactive visualizations and custom reports
  • Ability to build PowerPoint presentations to effectively explain budget status and analysis information to multiple stakeholders and work with C-level executives to explain complex financial data to non-financial stakeholders.
  • All candidates must have strong communication and writing skills, ability to solve problems independently, and responsible for meeting deadlines.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles
  • Experience establishing, monitoring, forecasting and reporting project budgets
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and dynamic environment while also providing high-quality work on-time
  • Experience providing training and support to end-users
  • Create and deliver monthly status reports to executives on progress and issues
  • The position requires a professional work attitude, ability to communicate openly with management and coworkers, and to work as a team player.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust (US citizenship OR green card holder living in the US for at least 5 years)

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working for a government agency or contractor is preferred
  • Knowledge of the software development lifecycle and IT hardware desirable
  • Knowledge and experience in procurement, consulting, and Information Technology preferred

Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis’ total compensation package.

Posted Salary Range

USD $112,700.00 - USD $176,150.00 /Yr.
