Job Description

Location:  Hybrid - Austin, TX

Zendesk, a fast growing web-based customer service and engagement software company, is looking for a Data Migration Engineer II to help customers execute their data transformation requirements into and out of Zendesk. 
 

In this customer-facing role, you will work with external business leaders to understand and execute the transformation and movement of their data into and out of Zendesk. You will work on a cross functional global team consisting of Project Managers and Technical Architects within the Zendesk Professional Services organization. You need to be self-motivated and capable of working on multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities to bring your projects to completion. 


In this role, you will become an expert on Zendesk data imports, data exports, and configuration replications!

What you get to do every day:

  • Help Zendesk customers access their data quickly and efficiently

  • Work with a team to develop a data transformation toolbox

  • Build out a containerized deployment strategy

  • Understand, scope, and perform a variety of data migration and manipulation tasks

  • Support the Professional Services team to ensure timely completion of platform data services projects

  • Defy the “garbage in - garbage out” principle for data

  • Maintain technical expertise across the Zendesk API & Platform infrastructure capabilities

  • Become a domain specialist in Zendesk Platform Data Services
     

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2 + years experience with Python 3 and SQL

  • 1 + years of experience with PostgreSQL / MySQL

  • 2+ years experience with REST APIs

  • Experience with REST APIs, Web Services, and/or Backend integrations

  • Experience working on fast paced projects


Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1 + years experience working in professional services or on external paid client projects

  • Bachelor's degree in related field 

  • Python 3 development on Linux

  • Experience delivering high-quality and maintainable code for a variety of contexts

  • Experience designing, developing, and deploying cloud applications on AWS platform

  • Experience with Database design and Data modeling

  • Clear understanding of relational databases, SQL, and ORMs

  • Care for elegant, efficient, and maintainable code -- knowledge of when to test, what to test, and how to write testable code

  • Solid communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to engage on several projects concurrently
     

Where we work: Being digital first doesn’t mean we’re digital only. In this role, our hybrid experience is designed at the team level to give you a rich onsite experience packed with connection, collaboration, learning, and celebration - while also giving you flexibility to work remotely part of the week. This role must attend our Austin, TX office on a weekly basis for part of the week. The specific in-office schedule is to be determined by the hiring manager.

The US annualized base salary range for this position is $110,000.00-$166,000.00. This position may also be eligible for bonus, benefits, or related incentives. While this range reflects the minimum and maximum value for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations, the offer for the successful candidate for this position will be based on job related capabilities, applicable experience, and other factors such as work location. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only (or OTE for commissions based roles), and do not include bonus, benefits, or related incentives.
