Data Governance & Master Data Management Manager

Location: Vilnius, Lithuania (hybrid)

Johnson Matthey IT (JM IT) is Johnson Matthey’s global IT function responsible for ensuring that our IT capabilities are not only able to support and integrate technologies but can also offer insight into future IT tools that could provide us with a competitive edge and improved operating efficiencies.

As a Data Governance & Master Data Management (MDM) Manager within our Data Engineering and Integration Platforms department, you will head up implementation of Data Governance and Master Data Services across the organisation. This includes developing and leading the Data Governance and Master Data teams to establish and maintain harmonized Data Governance and MDM practices, processes, and procedures across all sectors as well as collaborating closely with global and local data owners, the Supply Chain Master Data Team, and global process owners.

In this role, you will navigate the complex landscape of evolving business and system requirements, driving change to existing MDM practices to deliver maximum value to the business. You will also support and consult development and implementation of comprehensive data governance strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and consistency. This involves regular review and enhancement of data governance frameworks and championing their integration into standard project methodologies.

Your responsibilities:

  • Standardize and optimize MDM policies, processes, and controls in collaboration with project teams and global process owners. Partner with engineering and business teams to implement and manage MDM tools.

  • Champion the integration of data governance within the standard project delivery methodology.

  • Lead the development and execution of the enterprise data governance program.

  • Manage the budget for the function as well as report progress and blockers to steering group and business stakeholders.

  • Work closely with business data owners, IT stakeholders, and engineering teams to ensure that data is properly defined and managed throughout its lifecycle, from acquisition to disposal.

  • Identify and prioritize data initiatives that align with business/sector requirements.

  • Stay informed on market trends and best practices to drive continuous improvement in services, performance metrics, and cross-skilling.

Requirements for the role:

  • Experience in leading, mentoring, and developing teams.

  • Deep understanding of data governance and Master Data Management (MDM) concepts.

  • Hands-on experience in designing, building, and implementing data governance and MDM solutions.

  • Proven ability to establish, maintain, and drive adoption of data best practices, guardrails, and standards to ensure data quality.

  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.

  • Track record of successfully working within a matrix management structure, collaborating across multiple teams and reporting lines.

  • Experience driving and managing change initiatives.

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

  • Experience working in Agile, DevOps, and Product Management environments, with a strong understanding of associated methodologies and practices.

  • Proven ability to drive understanding and adoption of an effective data culture across teams and stakeholders.

How you will be rewarded:

Salary range for this position is from 66,000 to 111,500 EUR per year depending on various factors, such as candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies. This role is also eligible to receive discretionary annual bonus that aligns with individual and company performance.
