SUMMARY

The Analytics Manager oversees the team of Enterprise Data Analysts and the enterprise analytics ecosystem, enabling bank-wide access to business knowledge and data-driven insights for decision-making. As a key partner in implementing robust analytical tools and processes, the Analytics Manager defines the strategic priorities and initiatives of the Enterprise Analytics team and collaborates on relevant technology efforts. A successful Analytics Manager provides accurate, timely, and relevant insights regarding the strategic and operational efforts of senior leaders and line of business stakeholders, while adhering to governance and control standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage the Enterprise Analytics Team

  • Recruit, develop, and retain a high-performing team of data analysts.
  • Mentor all analysts and implement continuous learning practices that encourage analyst curiosity, banking acumen, and technical skill.
  • Effectively resolve conflict and foster collaboration within the team as well as the organization.
  • Oversee analytics processes to ensure all resources and insights are uniformly delivered and consistently maintained according to data governance, design, and analytical standards.
  • Monitor and report on analyst and team performance against key performance indicators and service level agreements.
  • Provide feedback and coaching on technical and relational skills.

Steward the Enterprise Analytics Ecosystem

  • Apply emotional intelligence and technical knowledge to understand and address complex stakeholder analytics needs, including appropriate planning for future requirements.
  • Set a clear vision for Enterprise Analytics that is actionable, meaningful, and aligned with business strategy.
  • Collaborate closely with partners in IT to identify opportunities, solve problems, and facilitate alignment between technology and analytics initiatives.

Exemplify and Encourage a Data-Driven Culture

  • Produce accurate, relevant, and insightful reporting and analysis as a production analyst.
  • Oversee the analytics development lifecycle, including thoughtful stakeholder requirement development and feedback, validation and testing, and deployment to the production environment.
  • Coach the organization in the use of available analytics resources and capabilities in line with governance and internal control standards.
  • Develop cross-functional relationships and collaborate with decision makers to identify analytics and reporting opportunities, providing strategic support and timely updates on progress.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • High proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools such as SQL, Python, R, Power BI, or Tableau.
  • Proficiency in querying SQL databases and familiarity with database design, data modeling, and data ingestion.
  • Proficiency in project management and version control tools such as JIRA, GitHub, or Azure DevOps.
  • Be self-driven, curious, and creative.
  • Exhibit strong moderation, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with banking regulations, information security, and compliance requirements preferred.
  • Experience with analytical work in a cloud or hybrid environment a plus.  

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Information Systems, Finance, or a related field, relevant production analytical experience, and at least two years of experience leading a team with analytical responsibilities required, preferably within the banking or financial services industry. Relevant financial, data, or analytics certifications are a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

The ability to read, analyze and interpret the most complex documents and to read and interpret data schemas.  Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.  Ability to prepare presentations using original or innovative styles, techniques and make persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply advanced mathematical and statistical concepts to tasks such as frequency distributions, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply principles, logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand and sit.  The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
