Position: Senior Data Scientist

Job Location: 640 W. California Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94086

Duties: Design and implement machine and deep learning predictive models to identify and capture fraud patterns in real-time Walmart.com transactions. Translate data into statistical problems, perform statistical inference, and develop and implement statistical machine learning models on high-dimensional, fast-moving, unstructured, and structured data. Incorporate new business initiatives into rules to provide end to end compatibility with fraud decision flows of Walmart.com. Build data visualizations and interactive dashboards to analyze and indicate model performance both internally and externally. Perform ad-hoc analysis, summarize insights, and present key findings to business stakeholders and senior management. Maintain operations of existing data science models and work on efficiency improvement on a production scale. Implement advanced data intelligence, alerts, and monitoring tools for fraud detection. Research and develop new machine and deep learning techniques in accordance with the business to improve and enhance current decision flows.

Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 1 year of experience in an analytics related field; OR Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 3 years of experience in an analytics related field.

Skills required: Experience coding in one of the following object-oriented programming languages: C++, Python, or Java. Experience reporting and creating visualization dashboards on reporting tools including Power BI, Tableau, Kibana, and Grafana. Experience with database querying using SQL, BigQuery, and MySQL. Experience designing and implementing machine learning models using Python and R. Experience analyzing large amounts of data and applying business acumen to derive business insights. Experience building automation tools to enhance the efficiency of current internal processes using Python and Java. Experience translating business problems into proper mathematical and statistical problems and solving the problems. Experience influencing business decisions to arrive at solutions that align with business goals. Experience translating data into statistical problems and interpreting and explaining statistical analysis results and machine learning model outcomes to a non-technical audience. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.

Salary Range: $138,911/year to $234,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
