Position: Data Scientist III – Supply Chain

Job Location: 860 W. California Avenue, Sunnyvale, CA 94086

Duties: Understand business context across cross-functional teams and business processes. Translate business problems regarding store operations into data science related solutions and identify methods that will provide solutions. Deliver value to help improve associate experience and productivity. Work closely with product teams, share insights, and provide recommendations through effective communication and storytelling with data. Create and brainstorm robust metrics for key business success evaluation in new products/projects. Build data visualizations with graphs and interactive dashboards for monitoring and sharing business insights internally using Tableau and other visualization tools. Perform hands-on modeling and complex analyses to develop solutions using Python. Identify appropriate data sources on Google Cloud Platform and other databases using SQL/Big queries to acquire relevant data to provide data enabled insights. Identify underlying patterns and business opportunities within datasets to provide strategies for business decisions. Clean, manipulate, transform, and preprocess large scale data to clean data before modeling. Engage in feature selection and feature engineering before modeling. Develop solutions to improve existing business processes by selecting the appropriate analytical modeling technique most suitable for the data and building custom analytical models using machine learning algorithms. Evaluate the impact of variables and features on model performance through model fit testing and tuning and validation techniques. Support efforts to ensure that the analytical models and techniques used can be deployed into production. Support the scalability and sustainability of analytical models. Clearly articulate work and document, track, and present accomplished tasks through tools such as Jira, Github, and Confluence.

Minimum education and experience required: Master’s degree or the equivalent in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Analytics (any), Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; OR Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Analytics (any), Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 2 years of experience in an analytics or related field.

Skills required: Experience coding in object-oriented programming language Python or R. Experience developing end-to-end ML model deployment workflows using MLlib, Keras, and TensorFlow. Experience with data source identification and querying to acquire data using Big Query and MYSQL. Experience with data visualization using Tableau and PowerBI and modern plotting frameworks including ggplot2, matplotlib, and seaborn. Experience with Machine Learning model assessment, comparison, and validation using statistics and tools including Scikit-learn and Statsmodels. Experience with Machine Learning algorithms including classification, regression, and clustering using Scikit-learn, XGBoost and caret. Experience with the supply chain domain, including demand forecasting, transportation, and fulfillment. Experience cleaning, manipulating, and analyzing a large volume of data using NumPy, Pandas and dplyr. Experience with project/program management using JIRA and GitHub. Experience translating business problems into data related solutions and measuring the solutions using business metrics. Experience with data management and reporting/storytelling with data metrics and KPI settings and monitoring. Experience with feature selection and feature engineering using filter methods, wrapper methods and embedded methods. Employer will accept any amount of graduate coursework, graduate research experience or professional experience with the required skills.

Salary Range: $138,911/year to $234,000/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives.   Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives.
